Quincy Caldwell ******************************************************************************************************* Michael Jessome Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 24/10/2010 Michael Jessome, 85, of Royal Court, Sydney, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Catherine (Doolan) Jessome. Mike was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, Whitney Pier. Many will remember Mike as a daily visitor to the Sydney Shopping Centre where he spent several morning hours with his friends discussing daily topics and passing time in each others company. He will truly be missed by his long time coffee buddy, Jackie Long. Mike is survived by his twin brother, Bill, Halifax, Roy (Biddy), Sydney, and Roddie (Carmel), Chester, N.S.; sisters, Eleanor George and Delores (Michael) Graham, both of Sydney; sister-in-law, Lena Jessome and many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his sister, Mary Neville and brothers, Leo, Phonse Jr. and Aubrey (in childhood). Per Mike's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Rev. Dan MacInnis officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Bucky passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Florence, Jan. 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Annie (Walsh) Kempt. Bucky was retired from the Cape Breton Development Corporation. He was well known for his involvement in sports, both as a player and a coach. He pitched for the Sydney Mines Ramblers, participated in the colliery league hockey and bowling teams and was an avid golfer. Bucky is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rae (MacDonald); his three children, Cathy, Derrick (Kim), both of Minto, N.B., and Charlene (Collie Forrest), Sydney Mines; and several grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Earl (Barbara), Jack (Wilma), Elmer (Linda) and Sandy; his sisters, Cavelle Johnson and Marj (Tom) Millar. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Tony, Elderick, Lindsay and sisters, Bella, Philomena, Edna, Josie, twin daughters, his son-in-law, Edward and his granddaughter, René. Visitation today (Tuesday), 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to d.francis@ns.sympatico.ca. **************************************** Hugh Forsyth Passed away in: Lingna, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 25/10/2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Forsyth, 75, of Lingan, on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the New Waterford Hospital. Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Adam and Edith (MacLean) Forsyth. Hugh was a foreman at the Heavy Water Plant for several years until it's closure. He then went on to become a millwright and eventually taught this trade at the AVTC in Sydney. Hugh enjoyed gardening and playing tarabish at the Army, Navy Airforce and the Royal Canadian Legion in New Waterford. Surviving are daughters, Amber (Dan) MacGillivary, Brantford, Ont., Bernadette Forsyth, Oakville, Ont.; brothers, Adam (Theresa), Beachmount, Donald (Jane), Olaf (Marie), both of New Waterford; sister, Brenda (Gary) Wilkinson, Reserve Mines; three grandchildren, Michael and Kyle MacGillivary, Brandon O'Leary. Besides his parents, Hugh was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Cathcart), brother, Byron, grandson, Darryl. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, Wilson Avenue, New Waterford. Quincy Caldwell Born in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 27/11/1933 Passed away in: Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada Passed away on: 25/10/2010 The family regret to announce the death of their father, grandfather, brother and uncle on Oct. 25, 2010, in Miramichie, N.B., where he was residing. He was the son of the late Maj. Archibald Caldwell and Marguerite (MacLeod) Caldwell. Born Nov. 27, 1933, he grew up in Sydney Mines, graduating from Sydney Mines High School. He received a BA from Acadia University and graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He had several charges in Alabama, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He was very active in sports, especially baseball and hockey. Quincy is survived by his four children, Roberta, Evert, Russell and Curtis and granddaughter, Keely. Also surviving are his brothers, Rev. Malcolm (Lois), Ottawa, and James (Joan), Cape Breton; his stepdaughter, Margaret, her mother Marion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Lloyd and George, sister, Georgia and Elaine Clarkson, the mother of his children.
