Born in Halifax, Feb. 14, 1945, she was the daughter of James and Marie Alice Richardson. She was a member of St. Mary's parish, Port Morien. Eileen was an excellent caregiver, a wise and intelligent person who loved nature, animals, gardening and people. Mom would foster anyone who came to her door in need, whether two or four-legged. She was an avid bingo player and spent many Monday nights at the Port Morien Legion bingo game. Eileen is survived by daughters, Diane Bauder, Black Brook, Denise (John) LaPointe, New Brunswick, Dana (David) Thompson, New Brunswick; sons, David J.D. (Joanne) Barrett, Thailand and Dwayne Barrett, New Brunswick. She is also survived by six grandchildren and very special friend and caregiver, Michelle Martell as well as good friends Vern Raymond and Michael Brigley. Besides her mother, Marie Richardson, she was predeceased by husband, Roy Shepard and one granddaughter. As per Eileen's wishes visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 with a funeral service immediately following in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Burial will be in the Homeville Baptist Cemetery next to her husband Roy. A reception will be held, following the burial at the Port Morien Fire Hall. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (MacInnis) Lee. Margaret spent most of her life in New Aberdeen, moving next to the Senior Complex on Minto Street in Glace Bay and finally to Harbourstone Enhanced Care at the age of 85. There she received excellent care by a loving staff until her passing. Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd, grandson, Lee Mackenzie (Jr.), brothers, Alex, Jim and Arthur Jr., sisters, Nora Jackson, Emma Snyder and Murdena Maclennan. Margaret is survived by two sons, Lloyd (Helen) Mackenzie, Glace Bay, and Lee (Sheila) Mackenzie, Howie Center; grandchildren, Shane and Darren Mackenzie, Jillian MacNeil, Lisa Marr, Michelle Mackenzie and Kevin Mackenzie. As well, surviving are six great-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel Shaw, Elizabeth MacLeod, Edna Christie, Charlene (Reggie) Egan; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Born in Point Aconi, Oct. 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (McCready) Forrest. He was a member of St. John's United Church, Big Bras d'Or. Wayne was a coal miner for 26 years up until his retirement in 1993. Wayne was a beloved husband to his wife of 38 years, Margaret Ann (MacDonald). He is also survived by two sons, Robert (Tammy), Sydney Mines, Christopher, at home; two special grandchildren, Brandon and Samantha Forrest; sisters, Greta (Nate) Davison, Roberta Marsh and Stephanie Laffin; extended family, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Hazel Gillis, Norma White, a brother, in infancy, and four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Gillis, Hector White, Gerald Marsh and Kevin Laffin. Jimmy passed away at the New Waterford Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. Born in Port Morien, Jimmy was the son of the late Gordon and Annie (MacNeil) Clements of Morien and later, New Aberdeen. Jimmy was, in early years, a member of the armed forces, Black Watch Squadron serving in Gagetown, Cyprus and Germany. In his later years he was employed by Scotsburn Dairy, retiring after 25 years of service. Jimmy was a man of simple tastes, whose greatest enjoyments came from his family, home and friends. He loved cars, especially antiques, spending time with his friends down at Cliff's garage, but perhaps his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his much-loved granddaughter, Emma. He enjoyed hockey and while serving with the Canadian Armed forces was a starting goalie with the armed forces team playing overseas in Germany and other European countries. Jimmy had great faith and although he suffered greatly over the past 10 months with his illness, he always demonstrated courage, perseverance and determination with quiet dignity. He was always so appreciative of the kindness of others who cared for him whether great or small. Jimmy is survived by his devoted family, his wife, Vina (Sudworth); son, Jeff; cherished granddaughter; Emma; brother, Greg; sisters-in-law, Patsy Sudworth, Doreen MacKinnon, Sheila McIntyre, Paula Adams; brothers-in-law, Fabian (Cathy) Sudworth, Hal (Kitty) Sudworth; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, stepmother, Edna Clements, Jimmy was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Jr., sister, Ollie, brothers-in-law, Daniel Sudworth, Brendan McIntyre, mother and father-in-law, Harold and Blanche Sudworth. Born in New Victoria, he was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Turnbull) Tighe. Milie was a former member of St. Joseph's Church, New Victoria. Milie worked in the coal mines, then changed his career and became a steam fitter. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters and Plumbers Union, Local 682 and was always there to lend a helping hand to his brethren. Milie was a veteran of the Korean War, serving overseas at a young age of 19. Milie received the Canadian Peacekeeper's Service Medal. He was also a member of the Army, Navy, Airforce, New Waterford. Milie loved gardening, playing the piano, guitar and singing with his wife, Jeanette. He also enjoyed camping in Gabarus and playing a good game of bingo. But mostly, Milie will be remembered as a very caring man who loved his family. He especially enjoyed Sunday afternoons when the family would get together and enjoy a good meal and have lots of laughs. Milie is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Doyle) Tighe; two daughters, Sharon Ann Pitts (William 'Bill'), Sydney Mines, Emily Darlene Burdge (Glendon), Sydney Forks; seven sons, David Myles (Jenny), Victoria Mines, Edward Daniel (Anne), Sydney, Darrel Thomas (Michelle), Glace Bay, Donald Germaine (Jerrylynn), New Victoria, J. Blaise (Marion), Victoria Mines, Myles Sheldon, New Victoria and Michael Gerard (Michelle), Halifax. Milie is survived by one brother, Wallace, New Victoria; four sisters, Mona (Frank) Fahey, Annie McNeil, both in New Victoria, Emily Fahey, Reserve Mines, and Bunnie Pretty (Don), Ottawa. Also left to mourn his death are 13 grandchildren, Joann, David, Mark, Makaila, Ashley, Brandon, Crystal, Jacob, D.J., Lindsay, Blaise Jr., Eric, Liam and four great-grandchildren, Georgia, Ava, Audrey, Dylan; several nieces and nephews. Harry was a well known and loved barber for many years in Louisbourg. He was a devout Catholic and had great faith. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Upon her wishes Mom died peacefully at home Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the age of 92. Born in Little Pond, she was the daughter of the late Bertrum and Teresa (MacNeil) Boutilier. Mom was a home-bodied person. Her favourite pastimes were baking, sewing, gardening, playing bingo and a good game of 45s. Company was always welcome and a pot of tea was always brewing. Cassie's faith in God was evident throughout her life. She was a member of St. Stephen Church, Florence. Cassie is survived by her son, Spencer (Debbie); daughter, Laura (Garfield) Snow; grandchildren, Julie, Tracey, Gordon, Cara, Joy, Paul, Lonnie, Katie; and great-grandchildren, Ester and Nole. Also surviving is her sister, Agnes Currie, Sydney Mines; and her brothers, Garfield, Little Pond, and Lawrence, Point Edward. Born in New Waterford, Bernie was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Florence (MacKenzie) Nicholson. Bernie graduated from St. Agnes High School and the Cape Breton College. He worked for the Town of New Waterford as a tax clerk in the accounting department. He retired at age 49 after a serious head injury. Despite this injury, he enjoyed life to the fullest. Bernie was outspoken, but honest, he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, visiting friends - 'and a true friend to all he respected'. Bernie loved his grandchildren and often referred to his family as his clan, 'Scorra Bhrac'. Bernie is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Ernesto) Pozzebon, New Waterford; three sons, Edward (Norene), New Waterford, Kevin( Noreen), South Bar, Dale (Efsevia), New Brunswick; brother, John Hugh 'Jack' and special note to his cousin, Neil Nicholson. Bernie is survived by his grandchildren, Robert (Nina), Kenzie, Jasmine (Michael), Carmen, Giovanni (Jennifer), Nadine (Shawn), Nelson (Melanie), Terrance (Krista), Loreen (Brian), Adam, Issac and four great-grandchildren, Reese, Ira, Lily, Owen.
