Dr. Richard Williams Mary Vihos ******************************************************************************************************* Sarah 'Sadie' McNeil Born in: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 13/06/1922 Passed away in: Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 07/10/2010 Life is a journey not a destination and for Sadie the journey began in Big Farm Road, Big Baddeck on June 13, 1922 and ended in Baddeck on October 7, 2010. Sadie was the youngest of three children born to Nellie (Goodfellow) and Hugh MacDonald. She was predeceased by her brother Johnny and sister and best friend Annie. Sadie graduated from Baddeck Academy and then went to work as a clerk at the Old Post Office. It was there that she met her husband Harold who predeceased her in 1987. Sadie is survived by daughter, Norma (Bud) Ziegler of Baddeck/Duncan BC; sons, Gordie (Lila) Baddeck Forks, and Arthur (Rosanne) Baddeck. Her family was always a major part of her life and she was the happiest when surrounded by them and their friends. She loved her grandchildren and that love was mutual. Mourning Grammies are grandsons, Richard (Sonja) of B.C., Trevor, Jordon and Daniel of Calgary, AB, Dennis and Donald of Baddeck, NS as well as great grandsons, A.J and Dexter of Abbotsford, BC. Several nieces and nephews also mourn her loss. Sadie was a member of Greenwood United Church and Greenwood UCW. Her hands were never idle and when not baking biscuits she would be knitting or quilting. Quilting was always her passion. She was a long time member of the Whycocomagh quilting group. There was always a quilt in the frame and all her family are proud owners of one of her beautiful quilts. There will be no visitation or funeral at this time. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Sadie's life and graveside interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Grreenwood United Church Memorial Fund or Victoria County Memorial Hospital or charity of your choice. ************************************* Marion Gerrow Born in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 07/10/2010 Marion Gerrow, 71 of Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Una (Foote) Nelson. She was a member of the Salvation Army (Sydney Mines). Marion had a great love for life and enjoyed a good game of cards and also loved to travel. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four daughters Arlene (Walter) Hoeg, Alder Point; May (Blair) Hoeg, Ontario; Christine (Sandy) Pero, Florence; Elizabeth Gerrow, Florence; three sons Norman (Michelle) Gerrow, North Sydney; Earl (Audrey) Gerrow, Florence; James Gerrow, Florence; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Nelson, Mildred (Brian) Keeping, both of North Sydney, Winnie (Clevie) Gerrow, Florence and a brother Robert Nelson, Ontario. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy (Sheldon) Blinkhorn; sisters Margaret Nelson, Pauline Fry, Evelyn Campbell; brothers, Willis (Lillian) Nelson, James Nelson, Earl Jr. and Charles. Visitation for Mrs. Gerrow will take place Friday (today) at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home Chapel with Major Daniel Roode officiating. Dr. Richard Rhys Williams, formerly of Homeville, died at Otisfield ME on July 5, 2010. Williams WEST PARIS - Rev. Richard Rhys Williams of Otisfield died Monday, July 5, at Ledgeview Living Center. He was born April 21, 1923, in Bethlehem, Pa., and graduated from Lehigh University, received his bachelor's degree in theology from the General Theological Seminary, his master's degree in Semitic languages from Columbia University and his doctorate of theology from the General Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1947, and served as a curate at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Ill., and subsequently as an assistant at St. Mark's New Canaan, Conn., for a number of years. In the 1950s, he became rector of St. Mary's and St. Jude's Churches in Northeast Harbor and Seal Harbor. He taught briefly at Nashotah House, Nashotah, Wis., and later became rector of Christ Church, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. During this period he did some teaching in the department of religion at Marist College, Poughkeepsie. Subsequently, he taught full time at Marist College while holding the position of rector at St. Peter's Church, Lithgow N.Y. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Cape Breton, N.S., where he taught for a number of years at the University College of Cape Breton (now named Cape Breton University). He also assisted when needed in the various Anglican churches in Cape Breton. In 2002, Rhys and Pixie retired again and moved to Otisfield, where he occasionally assisted at Christ Episcopal Church, Norway. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Pixie); four children, Michael Montgomery-Williams of Andover, Mass., Margaret Williams of South Portland, Trudy Sloan of Kennebunk and Jane Lattimore of Princeton, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
