Thelma 'Tillie' Higgins William 'Blaise' Gouthro Michael 'Skag' Landrigan Francoise Marie 'Fran' Campbell ******************************************************************************************************* Thelma 'Tillie' Higgins Born in: Whitney Pier, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 01/09/2010 It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Thelma Higgins on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Sidella (Warren) Wells. She is survived by her loving son, Warren (April) Higgins, Sydney; her pride and joy, Jennie; three sisters, Bernice (Ray) Lumsden, Westmount, Sheila King, Whitney Pier, Beulah Patterson, Sydney; two brothers, Earl (Sally) Wells, Randolph (Joyce) Wells, both of Whitney Pier. She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril Higgins; daughter, Alana Genevieve; sister, Sally Hollahan. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St, Sydney. A funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment will follow the service at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sydney Mines. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional. He died peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 29, 2010, no longer in pain. Blaise was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Gouthro. Left to mourn are his father, Bernie Gouthro; his brothers, Daryl Gouthro, Vancouver, Trevor Gouthro, Fort McMurray and his sister, Raylene MacKinnon (Ross) of Fort McMurray. Longtime companion Donna; sons, John and Chris and grandson, Cian. A memorial service will be held at The Oasis, 9008-158th Street, Surrey, B.C. on Sept. 11, 2010 from 1 to 3 p.m. ************************************* Michael 'Skag' Landrigan Born in: Scotch Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Scotch Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 31/08/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Lloyd Landrigan, age 63, a longtime resident of Scotch Lake, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scotch Lake, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Mary Sarah (MacDonald) Landrigan. Lloyd spent most of his life on the sea. He was a member of the Seafarers International Union for forty years, and most recently was employed with Northern Transportation in Hay River, NWT. Lloyd was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or. He is survived by his companion, Linda Mott, Scotch Lake; his brother, Roddie (Helen) Landrigan, Ottawa and four sisters, Agnes (Paul) Fedy, Ottawa, Leona Boudreau, Georges River, Betty (Robert) MacNeil, Scotch Lake and Cathy (Edward) MacPhee, Bellingham, Mass., his sister-in-law, Edna Landrigan, Scotch Lake and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his brother, Paddy Landrigan and brother-in-law, Carl Boudreau. Visitation for Lloyd will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Online condolences may be sent to info@wjdooley.com. ****************************************** Franaoise 'Fran' Campbell Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Coxheath, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 30/08/2010 Fran (Villeneuve) Campbell, of Coxheath, passed away August 30, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, Fran was the adopted daughter of the late Rudy and Jean (Leadbeater) Villeneuve. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and the wife of Francis Albert (Frank) Campbell of New Waterford. Fran was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Sydney River, where one of her greatest pleasures was being in the church's Senior and Funeral Choir. Fran's kind and generous nature and ready smile was always there to support all activities taken on by the choirs. Her alto voice and dear nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Fran was an avid bridge player and through the years was also an active member of and volunteer with the Catholic Women's League and Nova Scotia chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). She is survived by her husband; daughters Lori (Patrick Moran), Halifax, Colleen (Hyun Kiel), Toronto, and Shannon, Lunenburg County; and a son David, Salt Spring Island, B.C. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Fran will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday September 2, 2010, at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday September 3, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
