Carroll Mildred (Delaney) MacGillivray ******************************************************************************************************* Jack Brewer Passed away on: 04/09/2010 It is with peace and comfort that we announce that Jack Owen Russell Brewer has gone to Heaven to be in the arms of his 'Poppy'. On Sept. 4, 2010, parents, Mary-Beth MacDonald and Justin Brewer, spent several precious hours with their baby boy. Although Jack has not taken a breath here on earth, he was loved so much and will be missed by his parents, grandparents, family and friends. Jack was predeceased by his grandfather, Russell MacDonald and great-grandparents, who will all share in giving him much love and many kisses in Heaven. Jack is survived by his parents, Mary-Beth MacDonald and Justin Brewer; his grand parents, Beth MacDonald and Andy Harbin and Anna Marie and Pete Brewer. He is also survived by his loving aunts, Tiffany and Hannah MacDonald and uncles, Matthew MacDonald and Andrew and Stephen Brewer. Jack also has many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins left here to remember and cherish him. Jack will be sadly missed by a large group of Mary-Beth and Justin's friends, who would have been aunts and uncles of the heart. "An Angel in the book of life wrote down a baby's birth. And whispered as she closed the book, 'too beautiful for earth.'" ************************************* Catherine Amelia 'Kay' MacDonald Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 07/09/2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kay MacDonald of Glace Bay. Kay passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at her residence. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Peterson) LeBlanc, and was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Glace Bay. Kay took great pride in being a full time wife, mother and grandmother, a job she truly enjoyed. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, she loved to sing and in earlier years enjoyed family camping trips. Kay had a very pleasant disposition and was an extremely friendly person; there isn't anyone we know who could make a new friend quicker than mom. She also enjoyed playing darts and bowling, playing with many local leagues. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Alfie; daughters, Deborah (Malcolm) Barrett and Katherine, both of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Travis Barrett, Dartmouth, Devin Barrett, Halifax, Ashely Crouch, London Ont.; three nieces; a nephew; and numerous dear friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joe. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glace Bay. Carroll Back to Cape Breton Post Passed away on: 01/09/2010 Martin Joseph Carroll, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, in Halifax, will have visitation at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today (Thursday) from 6-9 p.m. on the second level. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating, immediately followed by a reception in the church hall. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.twcurry.com. ***************************************** Mildred (Delaney) MacGillivray Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 07/09/2010 Mildred (Delaney) MacGillivray, 87, of Steelworkers Lane, Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at the residence. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Christena (Cameron) Poulain. She was a member of St. Theresa parish, Sydney and a former longtime member of the parish CWL. She was also a member of Club 55 and Sydney Steelworkers Pensioners Club. Millie was a very active member of the ladies auxiliary Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney. She had been employed at the general office as well as Zellers. She is survived by four sons, Frank (Ruth), Cliff (Vincey), both of Sydney, Brian (Tina), Gary (Lori), both of Halifax; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Clynch, Oshawa, Ont., Mrs. Isabel Strang, Sydney; seven grandchildren, Matthew, David, Jonathan, Paige, Robyn, Kaitlyn, Colin; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by her first husband, Clifford Delaney in 1977 and her second husband, Jim MacGillivray in 1987, by sons, Kevin and Stephen, a brother, George and a sister, Betty. Mrs. MacGillivray will have visitation at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Theresa's Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer Society.
