Livingston Born in: Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Passed away on: 26/09/2010 It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Livingston on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the age of 71, in Toronto, Ont. Brian was a retired coal miner with Devco retiring after 32 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by wife, Geraldine Livingston (Brown); separated, loving father to Michael, New Waterford, Bernie, Toronto, Shaun (Nancy) Port Hope, Sheri (Brian Hughes), Toronto, Cordell (Amanda), Barrie, Kathleen Morrison (Drew), Glace Bay. Proud Papa to Tony, Evan, Brian, Quentin, Maddison and Isaac; great-grandfather to Sofia. Brother to Maureen (Ron Young), Halifax, Winifred (Gary Stewart, predeceased), Patrick (Bernice), Eldon, Geraldine (Wayne Lewis), John (Joan), former partner, Ann Marie Morrison and four stepchildren, all in Glace Bay. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Lillian (Holland) Livingston and brother, Raymond Livingston. In honouring Brian's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the parish hall, all are welcome. Mulley Born in: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Millcreek, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 27/09/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Bill Mulley. Bill passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late J.W. and Marion (Harnem) Mulley. Bill was employed as a coal miner for most of his life. He worked for many years in the Princess mine and later as a supervisor with Prince mine until his retirement. He took great satisfaction in a good day's work, and instilled a strong work ethic in his family. Bill was a member of Wilson United Church in Florence. He could also be seen in the choirs of several other local churches lending his voice until failing health no longer allowed. He was a veteran of the Second Word War and a life member of Florence Legion, Branch #83 and was a member of the Bras d'Or Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. Bill enjoyed fishing and woodworking, and until just recently; he loved spending the weekends on the dance floor. Bill was a very proud father and grandfather. He cherished his time spent with family and friends, especially in Baddeck and Middle River. Bill is survived by his wife, Asneth 'Ann' (Kelland) Mulley; his six children, Marlene (Ian) MacLean, Middle River, Irene (Hal) Hill, Georges River, Billy (Denise) Mulley, Baddeck, Donnie (Bonita) Mulley, Florence, Colleen (John) Roberts, Baddeck, Kim (Scott) Young. Airdrie, Alta.; four stepchildren, Richard (Isabel) Kelland, Dalem Lake, Patsy (Cliff) Burton, Millcreek, Leonard (Debbie) Marsh, Sydney Mines, Donnie (Michelle) Marsh, Edmonton, Alta.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren; his brothers, Leonard Mulley, Bridgewater, John R. Mulley, Wyoming, USA, Wesley Mulley, Florence, Wayne Mulley, North Sydney; sisters, Minnie MacLean, Sydney Mines, Mamie Johnston, North Sydney. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (Wilkie) Mulley, brothers, Murdock, Angus, and sisters, Ina Mae, Susan and Madeline. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Wilson United Church, Florence, with Rev. David Luker, officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to info@wjdooley.com. ********************************************************* Katherine "Kaye" MacPherson 1917-2010 Katherine "Kaye" MacPherson 93, Coxheath/Sydney It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Kaye MacPherson, 93, of Coxheath, formerly of Cartier Street, Sydney, on Monday, September 27, 2010, at her residence in Coxheath. Born on February 5, 1917, in Cains Mountain, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Gladys (MacAulay) Gillis. Kaye married her husband, Murdock Dan MacPherson, on September 28, 1940 and moved to Sydney where she and Murdock spent 49 years together. She was trained as a C.N.A. and worked at the Sydney City Hospital in the newborn nursery until its closure, when she retired. She was a member of Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church where she was active in church activities and was one of the original members of the Catherine Ferguson Missionary Society. Surviving is her daughter, Colleen MacPherson, Ontario; her son, Jack (Nancy) MacPherson, Halifax; five grandchildren, Nadine, Aaron and Sarah MacPherson, Andy and Josh Buckle and two great-grandchildren, Grace Katherine and Eve Katherine. Also surviving is her sister, Ellen MacNeil, Baddeck; her special nephew, Francis "Frankie" MacNeil and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Murdock, in 1989, a sister, Murdel and two sisters in infancy. Visitation for the late Kaye MacPherson will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 1 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steven Welch officiating. Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Westminister Church, the Catherine Ferguson Missionary Society or the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation. ****************************************** Barbara MacRitchie Born in: Blue Mills, Inverness Co., Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Weston, Ontario, Canada Passed away on: 25/09/2010 Barbara Christine MacRitchie, 81, Weston, Ont., passed away in the Humber Memorial Hospital, Toronto, Ont., on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. She was born in Blues Mills, Inverness County, a daughter of the late Angus and Mary Jessie (Ferguson) Morrison. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Norman MacRitchie, Weston, Ont. Barbara was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and to her grandnieces and grandnephews. For many years she worked in the Boston area returning home to Blues Mills each summer. After she was married she worked in the Humber Memorial Hospital and then at the Ontario Motor Vehicle Branch until her retirement. She is also survived by two sisters, Annie (Gordon) Cann, Sidney, B.C., and Evelyn Williams, Halifax, N.S. She was predeceased by brothers, Alex, John, Donald and George and sister, Miriam. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday in Stewart United Church with the Rev. Donna Tourneur and the Rev. Gordon Cann officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery following the service.
