<SNIP> >> Fred, I am very interested in the Heffernan connection you have. My husband's grand-mother was a Heffernan from Lingan, Cape Breton and there is a Heffernan Hill in Lingan to this day.... I will share what I have with you....<< Fran, Thank you for writing and your interest in the HEFFERNAN surname. I don't think I can help much as all I have is one note: " 2d Married ---------?---------- [ Lydia CANNING [ married Maurice HEFFERMAN" I think this is a child of a second marriage of Charles CANNING born 5/20/1816 to an unknown name. His first marriage was to a ---- unk-----COMMEAU or COMMEAN. The first marriage produced 7 children between 184? and 1872. So Lydia would have been born after 1872 and married circa 1890. I have 8 pieces of paper 3 ½ x 4 ½ with family notes of names, marriages dates of birth and deaths. None of the pieces of paper were numbered. I've tried lining them up by using the dates.
