Leo MacLean Everett 'Ev' Andrews George Edison Sheppard Gary James Chordis Francis J. and Irma (MacAulay) Confiant ******************************************************************************************************* Leo MacLean Born In: Ottawa Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Ottawa Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 10/06/2011 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Leo Joseph MacLean of Ottawa Brook, announce his passing on June 10, 2011, at Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Leo was the son of the late Hughie MacLean and Georgina (Corrigan) MacLean. Leo was predeceased by his life partner, Kathleen MacLean. He is survived by siblings, Florence Wright, Frank (Sheila), Danny (Jessie), and Anna (Mike). He will be fondly remembered by his aunt, Betty Rich; nieces and nephews, Karen and Bruce Wright, Frank MacLean, Shawn, Brenda and Cory MacLean and Wanda Bennett. Grandnieces and nephews, Kirk, Natasha, Natalie, Brittany, Tyler, Bethany, Breagha, Michalea and Nikolas. Leo is also survived by his extended family, Lenord (Cathy), May (John Angus), Ann (Brian), Marguerite (Duncan) and Sadie (Charles). Leo served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was stationed in British Columbia, Germany and New Brunswick during his career. Leo was then employed by the Nova Scotia Department of Highways until his retirement in 2003. Leo was a member of CUPE local 1867 and an ordinary member of the Royal Canadian Legion Grandona branch 124, Iona. Leo enjoyed visits with his extended family including Julie, Alicia, Patty, Charlene, Melissa, Donna, Matthew, Chesley, Zachery and Zoey. Leo enjoyed his visits with Dougie, John, D.F., Larry, John Neilie, Gregory, and many other community members. He was predeceased by his parents, Hughie and Georgina MacLean and brothers, Howard and William. Visitation will be at St. Columba parish hall from 7-9 p.m., Friday, June 24. Funeral service will be held at St. Columba Church at 11 a.m., June 25. Please send email condolences to macaskillsfuneralhome@gmail.com. ******************************************* Everett 'Ev' Andrews Born In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 20/06/2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Everett Thomas Andrews, age 77, husband, brother and friend, on Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Andrews. 'Ev,' as he was known to everyone, was employed with the North Sydney fire department as a full-time fireman from 1969 until his retirement in 1998. He served as interim chief in 1984 and as fire chief from 1991 until 1998. He was a member of the Northern Yacht Club, North Sydney, and a member of the coast guard auxiliary, director of Zone 8 and also a member of the Neighbourhood Watch. He was an Adherent of St. John the Baptist Church, North Sydney. Ev had a great love of boating and spent many summers with Marg on the Bras d'Or lakes cruising on "Lotsa Thought." He will be sadly missed by his wife and family and the many friends he made through his work as a firefighter and his interest in boating. He is survived by his loving wife, Marg (MacPherson) Andrews; his sister, Nellie (Dave) Cox, North Sydney; and his longtime friend and colleague, Vince Penny. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Andrews. Visitation for Ev will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. George was born and lived his life in Glace Bay. He worked most of his life with the Devco Railway until his retirement. In the early years he was known to be a pretty good dart shooter and rock and roll dancer. His interests also included trains, reading (he was an avid reader), surfing the web, watching good movies and listening to music. He is survived by his daughters, Stacey (James) and Meghan; sons, Brent (Tanya) and Jason and his six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Alexis (MacLeod), his parents, Lillian (Campbell) and Joseph Sheppard, a brother who died in infancy and stepfather, Hubert Dalton. There will be no visitation. Gary will be sadly missed by his only son, Gary Michael; three daughters, Jamie (Tommy), Donna (Harden), Dale (Clayton); wife of 30 years, Rose 'Bobby' and sister, Wendy. Gary had a special place in his heart for his six grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Samantha, Braeden, Carson and Claire. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Weldon and Etta (Parsons) Chordis. His loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Irma (Catharine) Confiant (MacAulay) born Sydney Mines, N.S., passed away Dec. 16, 2010 in St. Catharines, Ont. Cremation and private services have taken place in Ontario. As per their final wishes, Frank and Irma will be returned to their beloved Cape Breton by their children for interment in the Confiant family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. A graveside service will take place Friday, June 24, 2011, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
