'Abe' Astephen Mary "Marie" Beck ******************************************************************************************************* John Kenneth LeLoup Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: River Ryan, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 12/06/2011 With loving hearts and great sadness, we the family regret to announce the passing of John on June 12, 2011, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of Catherine (Kay MacDonald) LeLoup and the late Wilson LeLoup. John was a third generation horseman of the LeLoup family, whom he shared his love for harness racing, roosters and hound dogs with his predeceased father Wilson and best friend Ronnie Ward. John is survived by his loving wife, Gail (Bruton); children, Lisa (Jason) and John, both of New Waterford; mother, Kay; sister, Rosslyn; and brother, Paul (Sandra), Halifax; special nephew, Arron; as well as other family members and friends. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Friday, June 17 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church, Smith Street, with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial to follow in Union Grove Cemetery and luncheon in Calvin Hall. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rachel (Donovan) Whitty. Leona loved dancing, singing and watching her soap operas. She was a member of St. Joseph parish. She is survived by a grandchild, Alexis; six sisters, Eileen Hawley, Ingonish Beach, Edna Whitty, Sydney, Gertrude Whitty, Barbara (Murdock) Herridge, Cecilia Farr and Evangeline Hawley, all of North Sydney; her only aunt, Bernadette Whitty, Ingonish Beach; sister-in-law, Judy Whitty, Ingonish Beach; several nieces and nephews; and two special nephews, John and Jason Hawley; and good friend, Wayne Ivey. Leona was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joseph (Frenchie) Landry, two brothers, Thomas and John Joseph Whitty. Visitation for Leona will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday in the W.J. 'Abe' Astephen Born In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada Passed Away On: 12/06/2011 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Abraham 'Abe' Astephen, 87, formerly of North Sydney, on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, N.B., where he resided the last number of years. Born in North Sydney, Abe was the son of the late Abraham and Rose (Balah) Astephen. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the Canadian Army. He was a businessman and managed the former Sealanes Bingo Hall and later the Centennial Diner in North Sydney. Abe was a former member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 19, and the Northern Yacht Club, North Sydney. Abe is survived by his children, daughter, Adele Kelly, Saint John, and her children Robin and Corey and great-grandchild, Milo; two sons, George, Markham, Ont., and his children, Catherine and Jeannie, and Paul (Yang Yang), Bejing, China, and his son, Jonathan Boudreau; daughter-in-law, Della Astephen, Saint John, and her children, Lynaya McKinley, Sara Astephen and great-grandchildren, Katie and Emily. Also surviving are his two sisters, Margaret Hilcox, Stratford, Ont., and Rose Zukowski, Cornwall, Ont.; also surviving is Louise Astephen and stepson, Lloyd MacIntosh and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David, his brothers, Stephen and Joseph, sisters, Mary MacDonald, Josephine Meers and Adele Barrett. Visitation for Abe will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass to be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Pottie) Bagnell. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, who will be missed by all her knew her. She was the glue that kept her family together. She was an awesome cook and baker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her little man, Tyler. Mary is survived by her loving children, Louise (Peter) Ronco, Phillip Beck, Judy (Jeff) Garland, Howard Beck, Cindy Beck, George (Mariette) Beck, Sharon Beck (Courtney), Dawn (John) Yanez. She is also survived by her two brothers, Tom (Odile) Bagnell, Bob (Rikki) Bagnell; goddaughter, Pat Remy; many nieces and nephews; as well as her life-long best friend, Helen (Glenmore) Neal. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd (2005), her daughter, Heather Beck, a son in infancy, sister, Hilda, brothers, John and Alonzo (Lonnie) Bagnell. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
