Raymond passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the age of 74, at his residence in Tower Road, after a brief battle with cancer surrounded by family. Born in Glace Bay on Feb. 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Theodore and Emilie (Lemal) David. Dad was a mechanic by trade working at Sheps Garage and others in Glace Bay for 35 years. He was a member of Tower Road fire department for 45 years and fire chief for numerous years. He also was a bar steward at the fire hall. Dad enjoyed his morning meetings with buddies, Forbes, Daniel, Rudy, Brian, Walter, Alec, Blair and families. He looked forward to activities and "get-togethers" where he played the accordion "Annabelle" with his talented friends. Dad will be sadly missed by his children, Raymond, Ontario, Michelle (Gerry), Ontario, John (Marie), Tower Road, Robert (Patricia), Ontario, Stephen (Candace), Manitoba, Nicole (Aaron), Tower Road; 15 cherished grandchildren and Tessa, his little friend. Also surviving, Louise and Veronica MacKinnon; sisters, Georgina Bourque, Windsor, Ont., Lorraine Parrish, Detroit, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario and Cape Breton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Marcel, sisters, Madeline Pettipas, Adeline Swartz and Jean Deering. In accordance with dad's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Raymond's family will celebrate his life 2-4 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2011, at Tower Road fire department. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Anastasia (Briand) Martell. Johanna used to do volunteer work at Victoria Haven Nursing Home and was always known for her hardy laugh and great sense of humour. She is survived by her son, Jamie (Barbara) Orchieson, Glace Bay; sister, Phil Martell, Glace Bay; and three grandchildren, Hunter, Hanna, Glace Bay, Christopher, Dartmouth. Johanna was predeceased by her husband, John Orchieson, brother, Johnny and a sister, Annie Mae. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Fitzroy and Antoleza (Francis) Green. He was a member of Trinity United Church, Sydney. Left to mourn are his five daughters, Patsy (Whitney) Meade, Debbie Green (George Smith), Valerie (Eric) Andrea, Karen (Gary) MacIver and Marie, all of Sydney; his six sons, Kenny (Betty), Gary, Benjie (Judy), Adam (Laurel), Lorne (Kelly), all of Sydney, and John (Debbie), Toronto. Roy is survived by his 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters, Marie Nichols, Isolene Giscombe and brother, Benjamin (Delores). Roy was predeceased by his loving wife, Katie in August 2010, his son, Chuppie, great-granddaughter, Brittany Green and sister, Winifred Braithwaite. Previously, Sadie lived at Williston House, Sydney. Sadie was born August 5, 1916, at Riverside, Inverness County. She was the eldest daughter of the late Archie and Mary (MacCuish) Dowling. She was the last surviving member of her family. Sadie completed her nurses training at the Sydney City Hospital. During her career, she nursed at the Steel Co. Hospital, VON, and the Cove. She was a member of the Nursing School Alumni. As well, she was a member of the Cove Auxiliary, Friendship Guild, the Thursday morning Bible Study Group at Bethel Presbyterian Church, and a life-long member of the Atlantic Mission Society. She is survived by daughter, Brenda (Alan Skinner), Howie Centre; their children, Bruce (Krista), Halifax and Sarah, Rainbow Lake, Alta.; great-grandsons, Nicholas and James; son, Ian (Judith); their children, Catherine and Andrew, Prescott, Ont.; two first cousins, Bob Dowling, Jasper, Alta. and Chris Rosello, Port Hawkesbury. Born on April 13, 1923 in Point Aconi, Cape Breton, NS, he was a son of the late John and Louise (Godbout) MacDonald. John was a Veteran of WWII having served overseas with the Merchant Marine. He was affiliated with Nashwaaksis United Church. John was involved with Liberty Lodge in Ontario, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Past Patron and Past District Governor of Oromocto Lions Club. Daniel Wilmot passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late John and Genevieve (Confiant) Wilmot. Daniel was employed for 35 years with Hydro Public Utilities Commission in various locations between Nova Scotia and Ontario. He will be sadly missed by a son, Michael (Rosanne), Ont., a daughter, Laura Wilmot, Ont., cherished grandchildren, Rachael and Paul. Also surviving is Lynda Wilmot and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Daniel was predeceased by brothers, John, William and sisters, Mary and Frances. Visitation for Daniel Wilmot will be held Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J.
