Born in Reserve Mines, Feb. 8 1954, he resided at Barra Glen Road, Iona, since 1988. He was the son of the late Michael and Marie (MacNeil) MacLean. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma MacLean; his loving children, Wanda (Robert) Dominion, April and Jorden, at home, Pauline, Calgary, Margaret (Eddy), Glace Bay, Bernard, Sydney, Steven (Kim), New Waterford, Chris (Melissa) Edmonton, Tiffiny (Steven), Quebec, and Bradly, Reserve Mines. William Daniel Dixon, 85, passed away with his loving family by his side on March 17, 2011, in Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neils Harbour. Born in White Point, March 3, 1926, he was a son of the late Francis and Agnes (MacKinnon) Dixon. In his early years he was a lobster, crab and salmon fisherman, this was his passion for many years. Even after retirement Dan remained eager and helpful to his sons during fishing season. He greatly enjoyed watching the sunset over the ocean while watching and keeping track of the boats out on the water. One of Dan's greatest hobbies was his daily walk to Point Hill - a hiking trail along the ocean. He took great pride in maintaining the land, and cemetery of the unknown sailor, this will always be a peaceful and sacred place for him. Dan will be sadly missed by his wife, Eliza (Fitzgerald); sons, Nelson (Lisa), John, Junior (Ann Marie), Todd (Angie); daughters, Amarlis 'Muggins,' Marie (Gerard) Briand and Mary (Glenn) Fricker; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Jean Jobe; brother, Archie Dixon. He was predeceased by sister, Edna Halloran, brothers, Jellico, Leo Dixon and Parnel Williams, son, Daniel Francis, special son-in-law, Richard MacDonald, great-grandson, Richard Gerald MacDonald. Dan will be remembered for his great love for his family. He had a special place in his heart for everyone. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Brooks Power and Anne (Nedruban) Power. Until her retirement in 2008, Linda was employed with Canada Post Corp. She was an adherent of Knox United Church. Linda was a member of Theraputic Paws of Canada and she regularly visited the Seaview Manor with her dog, Sidney. She was also a volunteer with meals on wheels at Town House. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Allister; and her daughter, Allison (Andrew) Wadden; and her faithful companion, her dog, Sidney. Also surviving are cousin, Bill Brown (who was more like a brother), Burlington; brother-in-law; Grant and his wife Carol, who was not only her sister-in-law but her dear friend; brother-in-law, Donald (Cheryl), Sydney River; nephews, Allan MacLean (Jody), Rodney MacLean (Tracey), Mark MacLean (Micaela); niece, Suzanne MacQueen (Donald); grandnephews, Robert and Ian MacQueen and Findlay MacLean. Bernie was 'free spirited' who loved to read, sing and travel. In his earlier days, he attended Holy Redeemer Boys School and Sydney Academy. He later moved to Ontario and worked for Canadian National Railway until his retirement. Bernie will always be remembered as a 'thoughtful person'. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his three children, Paula, Christopher and Robert Fleet; and a brother, Joe Fleet. Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his two sons, Bruce and Ian Fleet, and a brother, Gregory at infancy. Visitation and funeral service to honor the late Bernie A. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth 'Lizzie' (McCormick) Boutilier. Much of Harley's younger years were spent involved in sports like baseball and hockey with Marion Bridge Loggers and the Junior Millionaires. His boys will cherish their memories of these sports their dad taught them as well as fishing and playing chess. Harley's many travels took him to many places which he spoke of often. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and humour. He will be sadly missed by his three sons, Daniel (Michelle), Saint John , N.B., Mark (Josephine), Bedford, Adam (Danielle), Main-a-Dieu, and their mother, Betty Boutilier, Marion Bridge; sisters, Catherine Tobin, North Sydney, Mary Hopkins, Toronto, Regina 'Gonnie' Harrietha, Point Aconi; brothers, Cecil Boutilier, Sydney Mines, Freddy (Bev) Boutilier, Toronto; and by many nieces and nephews. Born in Glace Bay, Sept. 10, 1920, Neila was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (nee Campbell) Fowler. Neila graced this world with 90 tremendous years of triumph over tragedy. She faced every obstacle put before her with tenacity and abandon, always and without hesitation, putting the needs of her family first. No matter who you were, where you came from or why you were at her door, Neila never hesitated to open her home and offer whatever she had. (You better have left your shoes at the end of the street!). She was the backbone of our family and will be forever held in the highest regard by her children as "Ma," her grandchildren, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren as "Nana." Neila is survived by her two daughters, Denise (Bob) Shepherd, Ontario, Patricia Olafson, Edmonton; and son, David Stratton, Ontario; grandchildren, Bob (Michelle) Simmons, Beaumont, Alta., and their children, Cole and Mackenzie; Kelly Smith (Madonna Popwell), Hinton, Alta., and their children, Corey, Courtney and Adam; Kimberly Borden (Shaun), Lake Echo, N.S.; and Steven Borden, Ontario, and his children, Rebecca, Paul and Emily; one great-great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Shaw; brother, Ade (Alma); sisters, Kitty (Robby) Robinson, Chrissie (Winston) Smith, Dolly (Tony) Sollazzo. A service will be announced at a later date. ********************************** Marguerite (Smith) Morgan Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 15/03/2011 Marguerite Evelyn (Smith) Morgan a resident of William's Country Home, Hilden, N.S., formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011. Marguerite was a retired teacher of 35 years. Born in 1915 in her beloved hometown of Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Mr. E.E and Flora Smith. She is the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by husband Lloyd B. in 1991; sisters, Mary and Ruby and brother, Elver. Marguerite graduated from N.S. Teachers College and began teaching in Glace Bay (New Aberdeen) and after marriage to her husband Lloyd in 1946 moved to Bible and became the Matron at the Orange Lodge Protestant Orphanage in Bible Hill until accepting a teaching position at East Court Road School. Marguerite then went on to teach in Debert, Masstown and retired while at Brookfield Junior High. Marguerite is survived by sons, Lloyd (Joan), Port Hawkesbury, N.S., Earle (Heloise), Brookfield/Middle Cape; grandsons, Blaine (Tracy), Airdrie, Alta., Kyle (Megan), Fort Worth, Texas; great-grandaughter, Caelyn ( Blaine and Tracy ); special 'daughter' Natalie Cooper, with whom mom shared a special bond; special 'son #3' Walter Law; sister-in-law, Mary Smith, Glace Bay; Marguerite's extended family at William's Country Home especially, Sylvia Nason and Pauline Cox, who together with Donna Harvey, Carmen Payson and the caring staff looked after mom the last few years with compassion and dignity. Marguerite, who was a pet person is also survived by Molly, Gus, Edith-Anne and Bishop. The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Wheeler and Dr. Mary Feltmate for attending to mom's medical needs over her lifetime.
