GRACE (CURL MACDONALD) CRAWFORD Brian Warburton Ivan MacDonald Bridget (Butts) Radkey Francis Claude Pertus ******************************************************************************************************* GRACE (CURL MACDONALD) CRAWFORD Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Passed Away On: 18/03/2011 Grace Crawford 87 of Ottawa, Ont. passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 in the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Formerly of Port Morien, she was born in North Sydney, the daughter of the late Wilson and Mary (Devison) MacDonald. Mrs. Crawford was a member of the R.C.A.F. from 1939 to 1945. A graduate of the R.N.A. program at St. Vincent's Hospital, she was recognized for her work with seniors. She is survived by four sons, John (Margaret), with whom she resided, Barry (Linda), Shane (Lena), Shawn (Wendy), also survived by eight grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Groves, Glace Bay, Alice Groves, Ontario and one sister-in-law, May MacDonald and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Frank and Alex and sisters, Emma and Ann. Cremation has taken place with committal service to be held at a later date in Black Brook Cemetery, Port Morien. ********************************* Brian Warburton Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 22/03/2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brian, on March 22, 2011, at home. Born in Gardiner Mines, he was the son of the late Gordon and Regina (McLeod) Warburton. Brian was a taxi driver for 30 years at the Midway Taxi Stand. He enjoyed working on cars was an avid dart player and worked as a labourer and belonged to the Labour Local 92. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Margie (MacDonald); daughter, Stephanie (Rod McNeil); granddaughter, Hannah; brothers, Gordie (Sadie), Jimmie, Gary (Reggie), Richard, all of New Waterford, and Todd (Lori), London, Ont.; sisters, Lucille Muise, New Waterford, Vonnie (Sonny) Stubbert, Dominion, and Donna Kelly, London, Ont.; sister-in-law, Colleen Warburton; and brother-in-law, Sheldon (Delores) MacDonald. Brian will be sadly missed by 27 special nieces and nephews; cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews; also special godchildren, Melissa and Jeffery Warburton, Victoria Nugent and his loyal pets, Murphy, Pep, Nicky and Daisy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Eddie and Louis Richard, in infancy, maternal grandparents, Norman and Lucy (Tighe) McLeod, paternal grandparents, John James and Veronica (Petrie) Warburton, brothers-in-law, Austin Kelly, Bernie Muise and Fidel Gillis. Visitation will take place Sunday, March 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. A funeral mass to celebrate Brian's life will be held Monday, March 28 at 10 a.m. in the parish of St. Leonard's, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. For you may not get a second chance. ********************************* Ivan MacDonald Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 17/03/2011 It is with sad hearts, that we announce the passing of Ivan MacDonald at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 17, 2011. Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Norman and Maude (Piper) MacDonald. Ivan was most happy when hunting and when Jenna would come to visit. He was always ready to tell a good story, he loved to ice fish and spend time with friends. Ivan is survived by his wife, Marion (Fry); daughters, Gilda (Daniel), Jeanette (Scott); sons, Norman (Gail), Wayne (Barb) and Stuart; grandchildren, AJ, Zach, Jordan and Chase. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Marguerite, June, Deborah, Daniel, Garry and Donald; as well as aunt Mae Boutilier. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later date. Donations may be made to the ALS Foundation or the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (McPhee) Butts. She lived in Ontario for many years before returning home to Glace Bay. For many years she worked at Mendelson's Variety Mart. In 2006 she moved to Halifax. Surviving are her sons, Glen of New Westminster, B.C., Fred of Libau, Man. and Wayne (Tanya) of Upper Hammonds Plains; five grandchildren, Christopher Radkey (Manitoba), Heather and Jennifer Radkey (British Columbia), Lael Radkey (Musquodoboit Harbour) and Conner Radkey (Upper Hammonds Plains); one brother, Neil (Marie) of Glace Bay; one sister, Rose MacDonald of Glace Bay and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Helen; sisters, Mary Kelly, Mary Ellen Morisson and brothers, Thomas and Fred Butts. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the staff of Glades Lodge and doctors, Meehan, Mullen and Bergen, for the care given to Bridget over the years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2 p.m., Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Online condolences may be left at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com. ************************************* Francis Pertus Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada Born On: 24/08/1913 Passed Away In: Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 21/03/2011 We regret to announce the passing of Francis Claude Pertus at the St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre, Arichat on March 22, 2011, at the age of 97. A former resident of Sydney River, Francis was born in Poulamon on Aug. 24, 1913, son of the late Louis and Alexina (Hebert) Pertus. Until moving to Arichat, he was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Sydney River. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in the RCAF. Following the war, he was employed at the Naval Base, at Eastern Bakeries Ltd., Eddie MacDonald Motors, Sampson Motors, and until his retirement was a commissionaire at the Canadian Coast Guard College in Point Edward. Francis was predeceased by his wife, Clo (LeBlanc) in 1989. The last surviving member of his family, he was predeceased by brothers, Albert (1989), Remi (1945), sisters, Anita Poirier (1986), Marcellina MacDonald (1984) and Evelyn Boudreau (1998). He is survived by several nephews and nieces. At Francis' request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and memorial mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
