Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Augustine and Elizabeth (Roach) Gale. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (William) Wilson, also Lisa's best friend, Jody Hibbit, who was like an adopted daughter; grandson, Trent; granddaughter, Akira, and former wife and life long friend, Linda (nee White) (Steve) Barton; brothers, Lenus (Linda), New Waterford and Michael (Gerarda) Dutch Brook; sister, Lois (Garry) Dimitrove, Port Alberni, B.C. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date. ********************************* Marilyn Theresa MacIsaac Passed away in: Scotchtown, Nova Scotia, Canada With heavy hearts we sadly regret to announce the passing of Marilyn Theresa MacIsaac (MacDonald), having fought a courageous battle with cancer on Jan. 31, 2011, at New Waterford Hospital. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Neil and Catherine MacDonald of Scotchtown. Marilyn is survived by her son, Neil; stepdaughters, Cathy Dupe (Sheldon), Wendy Penney (Kevin); stepson, Gordie; and former husband and friend, Raymond (Inta) MacIsaac. Also left to mourn are her special grandchildren, Catherine and William MacIsaac, their mother, Sheila Poulton; Christopher Penney, Kyle Penney, Loretta Dupe, Vanessa Dupe; many nieces, nephews and also our extended Campbell family. Marilyn was a kind, friendly and compassionate lady, always ready to share her wonderful sense of humour with laughs and smiles. As a caregiver, Marilyn touched and inspired many lives 'sprinkling' each with her own magical formula of love. Ma's love and passion for animals, especially her dog Shadow was not to be exceeded by her love for dance. Sadly, 'Dancing with the Stars' missed out on a true winner. Marilyn will be sadly missed by her very close special friends, Annette Campbell, Louise MacKinnon, Simone Campbell, Jacklyn MacGillivary and Mary Canova. She was predeceased by her brothers, Neil (Neilox) MacDonald, Bernie Farrell, sister, Catherine MacNeil, Sydney, and her companion, Gordon (Corn) Longphee. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Friday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. Born in Sydney Mines, June 27, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hazel Clarke. She is survived by her children, Craig (Gail), Allison (Brian), Randy (Angela) and Yvette (Kelly); her grandchildren, Jessica, Yvonne, Matthew, Jordan and Josh; her brother, Allister; and her second husband, Clifford. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to d.francis@ns.sympatico.ca. ************************************ Dorothy Blagdon Born in: Piccore, Newfoundland, Canada Passed away in: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 02/02/2011 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Dorothy Blagdon, age 92, formerly of Stanley Street, on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Northside Community Guest Home, where she resided the past year. Born in Piccore, N.L., Dorothy was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Simms) Piccott. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, she was active in the women's auxiliary and altar guild. She was also a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizen and Pensioners Club. In earlier years she enjoyed camping and fishing, darts at the North Sydney Fire Hall and bingo. She is survived by six children, Yvonne (Tom) Eavis, North Sydney, Wilfred Jr. (Diane) Blagdon, Upper Leitches Creek, Bernice (Hughie) Moore, North Sydney, Sandra (Mike) McVicar, West Bank, B.C., Audrey (Phil) Harris, Sydney River, and Debbie (Russell) MacDougall, West Bank, B.C.; her eight grandchildren, Neil, Thomas, Chris, Chad, Melissa, Sarah, Ashley and Leah and her four great-grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Tyler and Jayden and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; her grandson, Steven David Eavis and her brothers and sisters, George, Arthur, Jim, Garfield, Rebecca and Caroline. Tony passed away suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Kingston on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at the age of 69. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Shawn Glory O'Quinn. Beloved father to Shane and Tammy (Tyler) Attewell. Dear brother to Joe (Shirley), Fraser (Annette), Mary and predeceased by parents, Edwin and Margaret O'Quinn; sister, Carmel; brother, Francis 'Bud'; nephew, Scott and parents-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Bailey. Tony will be dearly missed by his babies, Shammy and Rollo. Tony will be dearly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. In Tony's honour Cataraqui Town Centre has placed their flags at half mast - where he spent 20 years socializing as a member of the security department. Tony had a contagious smile, personality that all who knew him, could only love. Tony's family meant the world to him especially his children, dogs and wife Shawn Glory. Employed at the Bank of Montreal, Charlotte Street, for many years, Kaye was well-known in the local golf, badminton and bowling circles. She frequently enjoyed travelling with her friends, as well as playing tarabish. An active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Kaye was a dedicated elder and member of the Friendship Guild and the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Study. In her younger years, being a member of the Army Reserves was very important to her. Predeceased by parents, Charles and Wilhemena (Malcolm) Greaves; infant sister, Alice; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Christine (MacAulay) Greaves. Kaye is survived by her nephews, Charles (Linda) and Philip (Susan) Greaves and their families. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca. *********************************************** Jeanette Campbell Feb. 1, 1931-Jan. 31, 2011 Jeanette Campbell, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 31, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Formerly of Whitney Pier, Jeanette was the daughter of the late John Ossie McNeil and Jane (O'Handley) McNeil. Jeanette was employed at CFB Sydney, bringing smiles to many of the service employees with her wit and sense of humour. Her positive outlook on life was passed on to her family and friends. During the past weeks dealing with her illness she continued to enjoy a laugh with her family and hospital staff and maintained a wonderful attitude. Jeanette was well informed; she enjoyed reading, doing her crosswords, music and was an avid sports fan. She loved club with the girls, the 'Badgers' and her bowling league. Jeanette was an excellent cook and baker and her children were her biggest fans. The most important part of Jeanette's life was her family and she dedicated her life to always being there for them. Jeanette moved from Whitney Pier to Victoria Mines when she married her husband Russell Campbell. She loved sitting by her window watching the many different birds that spent time at the feeder. She knew every type that visited. Jeanette is survived by her children, Colin ( Marilyn), South Bar, Karen, Ontario, Nora, Edmonton, Teresa, Red Deer, Dan (Willena), New Waterford; granddaughters, Jamie Campbell, Nicole Campbell, Rebecca Campbell and grandson, Erik Campbell; great-granddaughter, Olivia Campbell. Jeanette is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Russell in April 2010, brother, Eddie McNeil, Boston, and sister, Nora Del Grosso, Boston. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 3 from 2-4 and 79 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Friday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's parish hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
