(Wade) Reid Born in: Camden, New Jersey, United States Born on: 04/04/1927 Passed away in: Mira Road, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 17/11/2010 Clara M. Reid, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010. Born in Camden, New Jersey, April 4, 1927, she was the eldest daughter of the late John B. and Elizabeth (Furey) Wade, Mira Road. Mom was a crossing guard at Mira Road School for 22 years, thoroughly enjoying crossing the children. She loved to knit and especially enjoyed meeting different people that came to the craft shows from the cruiseliners. She was a member of Immaculate Heart Church, Mira, as well as a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Mira Road Fire Department for almost 50 years. Clara is survived by her five daughters, Carol (Melvin) Heffernan, Marion Bridge, Sandra (Reg) Casselman, Trenton, Ont., Mary (Daniel) MacDonald, Albert Bridge, Catherine Lacroix, Toronto, Ont., Irene (Neil) MacDonald, Innisfil, Ont.; her three sons, Howard (Joan) Reid, Sydney, John (Kathy) Reid, Port Hope, Ont., Jim Reid, Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Margaret Doucet, Mira Road, Dorothy MacKenzie, Sydney River; brother, Fred (Pauline) Wade, Calgary, Alta.; her sister-in-law, Geraldine Wade. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Daryl (Shala) Heffernan, Blaine Heffernan, Jason Reid, Justin, Nicholas and Samantha Reid, Kimberley MacDonald, Colleen (Gord) Walker, Kyle MacDonald, Haley Lacroix, Brody MacDonald; her great-grandchildren, Quinn and Brenna Heffernan, Emily Mailman; as well as her dear friend, Margaret Mugridge, Sydney. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl Reid (2005) infant daughter, Clara (1965), sister, Marie (late Bill) Hardy, brothers, Bill (late Pauline) Wade, John (late Isabella) Wade, Dick Wade, half brother, James Wade, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ewen and Hettie (Bayliss) Reid. Visitation will be held today (Thursday, Nov. 18) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at Immaculate Heart Church, Mira Road, with Fr. Lydia was born on August 3, 1934 in Glace Bay, N.S. to her late parents John A. & Lydia (nee Turner) MacDonald. Beloved wife of Gerard Prendergast and loving mother of John (Shelley) of Fredericton, N.B. and Tracy Prendergast (Paul Merriam) of Bonshaw, P.E.I. Dianne was a wonderful soul, who enjoyed life and all those in it, dedicating a majority of her time providing a warm and loving home for her family and friends. Dianne was a long time employee with the housekeeping staff of the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney, until her retirement. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sanford; her sons Stewart (Nicole), BC and Brian (Judy), ON; her daughters Wanda (Billy), Sydney Mines and Wendy (Darren), ON along with nine grandchildren: Jessica, Nathan, Victoria, Brianna, Kali, Vanessa, Logan, Annabella, and Benjamen. She is also survived by her sisters, Yvonne (Ralph), Halifax and Peggy (Bob), Kentville and brothers; Sonny, Halifax, Ronnie, ON and Woody (Sandra), ON. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold Woods & Gladys Embrey. She will be sadly missed by neighbor & best friend of many years, Greta MacIsaac. We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr P. O'Grady, the oncology clinic at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney and the staff at the Hematology clinic at the VG for their wonderful care. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at St. Joseph's Church in North Sydney with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating, with a reception to follow at the KOC in North Sydney. A private family burial is to take place at a later date.
