Published in the Toronto Star from November 2 to November 4, 2010 Dolores MacDONALD DOLORES MacDONALD Passed away on October 29, 2010, surrounded by her family at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, May 24, 1935, to Douglas and Sarah MacDonald, Dolores was the second of fifteen children. A longtime employee of the Toronto Star, Dolores retired in 1998 and moved to Collingwood. Dolores' greatest joy in life was her family and she will be deeply missed by her adored daughters Anne (Jody) and Diane Kendall. Her favourite role was Nana to her precious grandchildren Ryan and Sean Crowley and Quinne Kendall-Mitchell. Dolores will be forever remembered by her siblings Carmel Lafleur, Johnny, Judy Kirk, Tillie, Archie, Gerard, Anne-Louise and Greg and she is now reunited with her sister Margaret Murray and brothers Hughie, D'Arcy and Doug. An independent, caring and genuinely kind person she was loved by all who knew her. A special aunt to Jill and Ray, Dela and Rena, Greg and Rob, Michelle, Kevin and Denyse, Vincent and Laurie, Peggy and Ray, Natasha and Kyle and Sasha and a close friend to cousin Kaye MacDonald. Special thank you to dear friend Ken McQueen and to the doctors and nurses who cared for Dolores during her illness: Dr. Wells and Vicky at Sunnybrook, Dr. Lewin, Kim, Dottie and Paige in Collingwood and to Dr. Collins, Amanda and all of the dedicated nurses and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe. A Celebration of Dolores' Life will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010, at 2 p.m., at The Boulevard Club, 1491 Lakeshore Blvd. W, Toronto.
