Following graduation from Sydney Academy High School in 1974, Tony lived in various parts of Western Canada. A craftsman at heart, he was well respected for his precision in hardwood floor installation, specializing in gymnasiums. Upon his return to Cape Breton in mid 1990s, he became a member of the IASTE Film and Technicians Union and was employed on a number of film productions as a scenic painter where his diligence and pride toward his work was admired by all the crew. Unique in character, Tony was well known for his ability to have fun and left all who had the privilege to know him with a story that will bring long lasting smiles for years to come. He enjoyed music, sports, and Shenacadie where he loved to relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature. It was here that he would demonstrate his competitive side not only in horse shoes, but he continues to hold the title of the "earliest" to brave the chilly Bras d'Or Lakes before the summer sun had a chance to warm the waters. In meeting many of life's challenges, Tony will always be remembered for his quiet resolve, his courage, and his strength. With his sense of humour, he would often take claim as "having the strongest arm in the world" often proving this by performing his one arm push-ups. Tony maintained a strong sense of loyalty toward friends and family and also to his beloved Montreal "Habs". Tony is survived by his niece, Marilyn Hall; nephews, Tony and Jamie; sister -in-law, Barbara Clifford; aunts, Sally Gerrior and Valerie Carson of Sydney, Elaine Clarke, Cole Harbour; uncle, David Carson, British Columbia; numerous very good friends in Sydney and from Calgary where he lived for over 20 years; and his longtime, good friend, Claude Nearing, Sydney. Tony was predeceased by his father, Joe, his mother, and friend, Winnie in April 2010, his siblings, Patty, Norma, Marilyn, his nephew, Patrick Hanna and niece, Sherri-Lynn Hall. A special thanks to Tony's "other" family, the Aids Coalition, particularly Christine and Joanne, for their unrelenting support for Tony over the last few years. Thanks to Bill Curry and the staff at T.W. Curry for their guidance. A get together in memory of Ace's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Donations may be made to the Aids Coalition. Online condolences may be sent to www.twcurry.com ************************************** Carroll A.
