Winnifred 'Winnie' McCormick Isaac 'Ike' David Theresa Monet (Fennell) Ronda MacLellan-Hudson ******************************************************************************************************* Winnifred 'Winnie' McCormick Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 18/11/2010 Winnie McCormick, 88 of 435 Cabot St., Sydney passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Allan Y. and Margaret (MacNeil) McCormick. She was a member of St. Theresa parish and longtime member of the parish CWL. She was an avid golfer and member of the Lingan Golf Club, also a member of the Sydney Curling Club and enjoyed tarabish at the Pensioner's Club. Winnie was an enthusiastic genealogist. She had been an invaluable staff member of the Royal Bank of Canada for 37 years, having worked both in Sydney and Hamilton prior to her retirement. She is survived by sisters Mary McCormick, Sydney, Mrs. Anna Ward, Halifax; brother Dr. Leo (Betty), Sydney and also by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Winnie was predeceased by a brothers Jimmy, Austin, John, Wilfred; sister Evelyn McKnight and a nephew Michael Austin McCormick and by a niece Claire Poppet. Visitation for Winnie McCormick will take place today (Friday) at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in St. Theresa Parish Cemetery, Sydney. Donations may be made to the C.B. Palliative Care Society. Online condolences may be sent to www.twcurry.com. ****************************************** Isaac 'Ike' David Born in: Whitney Pier, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 18/11/2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isaac 'Ike' David, at the young age of 94, on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010. Ike was born and raised in Whitney Pier, the son of the late Louie and Fanny David. At a young age, he worked for the David brothers in their grocery stores. In 1942, Ike served with the Canadian Army overseas and returned to Cape Breton in 1945. Upon his return, he became a partner in Frosty Velvet Ice Cream with his very good friend, the late Harry Hirsch. In 1950, Ike established the well-known and loved, 'Ike's Gourmet Delicatessen.' In 1958, he married Faye 'Tootsie' (Allen) from New Waterford, who worked by his side in the deli until their retirement in 1990, where they made many good friends. Ike was an active member of the Temple Sons of Israel, the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 12, Sydney and B'nai Brith of Canada. Ike is survived by his loving wife, Faye; daughter, Laurel and son, Phil, both of Toronto. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Louis Allen, New Waterford, and sister-in-law, Nettie Simon, formerly of Glace Bay and now residing in Toronto. Ike also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and good friends, who he loved dearly. He will be sadly missed by his very close friends, Reg Bonnar, Mary Muise and Marjorie. Ike was predeceased by his parents, sister in infancy, brother-in-law, Nate Simon and sister-in-law, Sylvia Allen. The family would like to thank Ike's doctors and nurses, especially the staff of 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, who cared for Ike with kindness and compassion during his stay. Funeral will he held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at the Hebrew Cemetery, Lingan Road. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ellen Fennell of North Sydney. Surviving are her sons, John (Bonnie) and Denis; grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle; also brothers, Thomas (Tom) and James (Jim) Fennell, both of North Sydney. She was predeceased by her husband, John Monet, brothers Michael, Pat, Jack, Joe, Richard and Fred Fennell, sisters Mary Leonard, Marg Lee and Gertie Pyke. Funeral services are to be held in Montreal. A private burial to take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. **************************************** Ronda MacLellan-Hudson Passed away in: St. Patrick's Channel, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 16/11/2010 There comes a time to live, to laugh, to love and to rest. The time to rest arrived for our very special wife, daughter, sister, and friend Ronda Lee MacLellan-Hudson on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. Ronda will be fondly remembered and missed by all those she knew and especially by her husband and best friend Jonathan Hudson; her parents Ronnie and Alice (Fisher) MacLellan; her sister Melanie (MacLellan) Garland; brother-in-law Todd Garland; Grandmother Thelma (MacLeod) MacLellan; and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides. Ronda's courage and strength, especially during the last eleven years, gives us all faith, love and hope for the future. At Ronda's request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held for family only at the St. Patrick's Channel cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at 3 p.m. Please join us at the Middle River Community Hall at 7 p.m. for a celebration of her life.
