Brean Pye Josie MacDonald Allister MacDonald Bishop Othniel Waterman ******************************************************************************************************* Brean Pye Born in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 25/11/2010 It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the sudden passing of Brean Pye, 57, on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at his home. Born in Sydney Mines on Sept. 4, 1953, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Eileen (Quinn) Pye. He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. Brean worked as a coal miner for 22 years in the Prince Mine, until it closed. After that, he worked with the Laborers Union Local 92 in Ft. McMurray. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lois (Costello) Pye; son, Brean Fredrick Pye (Angela), Florence; daughters, Eileen Pye (Wayne), Florence and Crystal Pye (Steven), Sydney Mines. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria, Brandon, Hayden, Ethan and Marcus; father-in-law, Gerald Costello; sister, Sharon (Luke) LeBlanc; niece, Amber Van Beelan (Kevin); brothers-in-law, Neil and Hughie, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Ruth and his sister-in-law, Debra. Visitation for Brean Pye will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. The burial will be in Tobin Road Cemetery, Sydney Mines. A reception will be held after the service, in the parish hall. Born in Murray, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Sutherland) MacDonald. Josie was in the teaching profession for over 40 years, she became a teacher working with various schools in the county, and then became a principal and later in her career a supervisor for the school board. She was a member of the Eastern Star and received the Order of Service. Josie is survived by her sisters, Margaret Morrison, Sydney and Ethel MacDonald; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Belle Gordon, Murdena Ferguson; brothers, Norman and Andrew MacDonald. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating. He grew up in Bridgeport and on Gallant Street, Glace Bay. Graduated Morrison High and Nova Scotia Teacher's College, Truro. He taught school at Central, Glace Bay, Cooksville and Campbell's River, Que. Was principal at Buckingham and Cowansville, Que. before joining the Quebec government as a consultant. He was a Dale Carnegie instructor and entrepreneur known as 'The Success Professor'. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Judy Muncaster; his son, Jason (Carol); his grandson, Mathew; his brothers and sister, Forbes (Jean), Mississauga; Bill (Laverne), Edmonton/Arizona; Doug (Linda), Mississauga; Leonard (Barb), Antigonish and Anita (Harry), Reserve Mines. Serville (Sylvia) Waterman, N.Y.; two daughters, Elvira (Fred) Lokey, Barbados, and Ernestine (Adin) Walkes, N.Y.; brother, Thomas Jordan, Barbados; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
