Hi Dwayne: I am descended from Catherine MacDONALD from Cow Bay. I believe her parents were Ronald MACDONALD and Ann MATHESON but I can't find anything on them. Catherine married JOHN FERGUSON who came to Cape Breton from Scotland in 1841. They married in Cow Bay in 1864/5. I wonder if there is any connection? I am not related to you that I'm aware, am not certain that the area my ancestors lived in were recorded, and it's probably best that I stay out of your site-trust me, inviting strangers in can be disasterous, as was for me with Geni. I lost hundreds of people, got a virus and had someone hi-jack my file when I invited strangers who were not reallly related in. not that I would ever be that cruel, but some people are. I descend from Allan McDonald, who died that year, his wife Sarah McPhail, and they had children Mary, Margaret, Archibald, Allan, John, Annie (b. 1858) and Kate and a boy who's name for some reason eludes memory, but he died before the 1871 so it doesn't really matter in this instance. they were coal miners in and around Sidney and lived in and around Cow Bay, and they were Presbytarians.
