Bea was born and raised in Woodbine and was the only daughter of the late Helen Howatt (Campbell). She was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Church and was active in the community until recent years. Bea was a skilled seamstress, a lover of Celtic music and an avid bridge player. She was an excellent cook and was happiest when she was in the kitchen preparing food for her family and many friends. Bea is survived by her two daughters, Michele Sidney (Gordie), Sydney, and Raylene (Rob) Wilson, Pickering, Ont.; four grandchildren, Brett, Rachele, Logan and Becky; one great-granddaughter, Mikaela. She was predeceased by Mike Musial, the father of her children. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and again Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the service, all in T.W. Other donations, may be sent to Northwood Nursing Care Inc., 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax, N.S., B3K 3S5. *********************************** Jane Veronica Forsyth Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 13/08/2011 It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jane Veronica Forsyth, 67, of Forsyth Street, New Waterford, on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Perry Settlement, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Milledge and Helen (Miller) Gregg. Jane was a member of Calvin United Church in New Waterford. In 1964, she married Donald Forsyth, a member of the Canadian Military, and the two travelled throughout the country where she was employed at various jobs. More recently, she was employed at the sugar refinery in Saint John, N.B., and later worked as a blueprint processor at Hermes Electronics in Dartmouth. Jane loved to fish, namely jigging cod in Red Point or on the Bras d'Or Lakes. She also enjoyed gardening and knitting. To keep her mind active, even in her final days, she watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and completed numerous crossword puzzles. Jane was considered to be a kind, generous and loving woman who was always smiling and optimistic about life. With Jane, the cup was always half full. She was also a good listener to those who wanted to share a story or their concerns. Surviving are her husband, Donald; daughters, Wanetta (Lawrence) Mason, Virginia (Nathan) Reicker, Dawn (Darren) Young, all of Sussex, N.B.; brothers, Alton Gregg, Otis (Linda) Gregg, Jackie (Heather) Gregg, Richard Gregg, Lionel (Monica) Gregg; sister, Marlene (Doug); special friend, sister-in-law, Judi Gregg, all of Sussex, N.B.; grandchildren, Justin Reicker, Stephanie Reicker and Matt Young. Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by one brother Wendell and a sister Freda, in infancy. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church, New Waterford, with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow in Calvin Hall. Jane will be taken to the church at noon on Wednesday. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mrs. Barbara (MacAskill) Reid, Sydney and the late Malcolm Reid. Daniel worked at Petersfield Park in Westmount for the Department of Natural Resources. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brothers, Gordie (Greta), Westmount, Brian (Christine), Fort St. John, Blair, North Sydney; sisters, Gail (Ralph) Charlong, Westmount, Sharon (Mike) Kennedy, Westmount, Nancy (Breton) Lumdson, Calgary, Linda (Gary) Fenton, Nanaimo, B.C.; many nieces and nephews, as well as many loyal friends and co-workers. Jessie was the daughter of the late Murdock and May (Nicolle) MacLeod of Mulgrave, N.S. She received her RN from City of Sydney Hospital and worked as OR nurse in Sydney City and later practised nursing in St. Catharines, Ont. and Halifax at the Victoria General. She graduated from Dalhousie University with her Public Health Diploma. She practised public health nursing in both Guysborough and Colchester-East Hants counties. She later worked as an industrial nurse at AECL in Point Tupper. She completed her nursing career at the Strait Richmond Hospital Primary Care Detox Centre. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's United Church in Port Hawkesbury. She lived every day to the fullest bringing joy and happiness to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her loving husband, Cullen of 48 years; son, Ian (Barbara) MacLeod, Truro; daughters, Elaine (Michael) Smith and Sheena (Todd) Thompson, both of Halifax. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen and Rebecca MacLeod; Matthew Smith; Ethan Thompson. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Mildred (Hector) Huntington, Sydney, N.S. where many summers were spent together on the Mira River. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Don Curry; his daughter-in-law, Rose; nieces, Pam Burt of Toronto and Jean Brett of Halifax, also two special grand-nieces, Nicole Brett and Allie Burt. Besides her parents Jessie was predeceased by her brother, Albert Barrie and wife Amelia, her sister, Alice Curry and nephew, Glenn Curry. Her love of warm summer days will forever be remembered each time the sun sets over the water on the Mira River. Jessie was born and raised in Sydney Mines. She was the daughter of Romanian parents, the late Andrew and Dominica Malanka. Mom worked as a cook at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, North Sydney retiring after 25 years of service. Jessie's love, kindness and big smile will be remembered by all who knew her. Mom loved to read, paint, sing and her faith was her greatest gift. Mom is also survived by daughters, Eileen Robilard (Abbie), Christine (Ronald) Foss, Georgina (Rex) Knott; sons, Jimmy, Paul (Maureen); one sister, Annie Olson; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband, James William Tremblett, daughters, Sally, Teresa, a sister, Sally, brothers, George, John and Danny. We would like to thank Dr. Doug Kolsmith, and the staff of Taigh Solas for their excellent care, compassion and love they gave to mom for the years she lived there. There will be no visitation.
