Born in Northside East Bay, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Catherine (Gillis) MacKinnon. Elizabeth Ann was devoted to her faith and St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines. She was also a former member of the C.W.L. and will be remembered for her compassionate and quiet nature. Elizabeth Ann is survived by three nieces, Catherine MacDonald with whom she resided, Mary (Luc) Belanger, Ottawa, Shirley (Ken) Stephens, Victoria, B.C.; two nephews, Charles, Joseph, both in Northside East Bay and several grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. Elizabeth Ann was predeceased by her husband, Angus Currie in 1994, a sister, Margaret MacDonald, a brother, Joseph Lawrence MacKinnon and nephew, John MacDonald. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Claude and Adele Chiasson. He was employed at Devco for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the S.J. MacArthur AMS group, the Church Autumn Club and a life member of the Presbyterian Church of Canada WMS. She was a former member of the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Little Narrows, N.S., former Sunday school teacher, past president of the AMS, former member of the Cape Breton Presbyterian Presbyterey and former CGIT leader for over 20 years. She was a former volunteer at the Moncton Hospital (pastoral care), enjoyed knitting, flower gardening, reading, socializing with her friends and spending precious time with her family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of John (Jack) Coleman and Nell MacInnis, and brother to Allister (Helen) and Greg (Pat). He was also a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. Dad had many joys in life but his greatest were his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Campbell; and his three children, Ken (who predeceased him in 2006), Lynn (Alan) MacEachern, Janice (David) Ferguson, and his five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrea and Grant MacEachern, Cole and Alex Ferguson. Passionate about music, Dad loved playing his saxophones. As an accomplished musician he played in many bands over the years; most notably with Jerry Coleman and The Scotians. He was also an active member of the Sydney Mines Centennial Band and could be found playing for visitors on board the cruise ships entering and exiting the harbour. As maritime site head for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Dad managed the Glace Bay, Port Hawkesbury and Point LePreau sites and was employed in this role until his retirement. Prior to this he was employed by Cape Breton Development Corp. He also sat on the boards of many local agencies. Dad was blessed to have had 81 full years and it is these memories we will hold in our hearts. Besides her parents, April was survived by the love of her life, her fiancé, Brian Marchand, Isle Madame; a sister, Dawn (Todd) and her two special nieces, Nikayla who was by her side when she passed away, and Bailey, all from Glace Bay. Dad passed away peacefully, Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Although born in Truro, N.S., to Lavinia (Allen) Butts, he was raised by his beloved grandparents, Julia and Bob Allen on Bell Island, N.L. As a young man, Dad proudly served in the British Royal Navy and often spoke of his naval service that included actions in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Dad worked most of his life as a car inspector beginning on the S&L Railroad (later Devco). In later years he was an active member of the John Bernard Croak Branch 3, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a proud member of the Loyal Orange Lodge and Royal Black Institution having attained all but the last half degree of that order, which could only be presented in Northern Ireland. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and for many years enjoyed the relaxation of his 'cabin' and playing horseshoes at Sangaree. He loved to sing and entertain and often would make us all laugh, donning some pretty unusual 'hats.' A humble and gentle man, he had an easygoing manner and a love of life that made him the beautiful father and husband that we knew. Everett is survived by two daughters, Evelyn MacGillivary (Joe), Jean (Mel) Smith; one son, Herbert (Arlene) Allen; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean 'Smitty,' cherished great-grandchild, Eric Evan Jobe and wonderful son-in-law, Gerard MacGillivary.
