McInnis Born in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 22/02/1924 Passed away in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 14/12/2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear, loving Mother, Eileen McInnis on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Glace Bay, Eileen was the daughter of the late Alex (Boonie) and Katie-Ann (McPhee) McDonald. Eileen was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force and for many years was a very devoted, faithful, and active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, New Aberdeen. Eileen will be sadly missed by her loving children, Maureen (Allister) McLeod, with whom she resided, Glace Bay, Alex (Roseanne), St. John's, N.L., John (Cathy), Glace Bay, and Bea (Huck) Buckland, Sydney; grandchildren, Sean (Karen) McLeod, Fredericton, N.B., Shealene (Joe) Barrett, Glace Bay, Katie-Ann (Glenn) Richardson, St. John's, N.L., Krista (Stephen) Gillard, Glace Bay, Fraser (Lacey) McInnis, Kelowna, B.C., Jeffrey (Jacqueline) McInnis, Upper Tantalon, N.S., Alison (John) Hannan, Glace Bay, Carolyn McInnis, Kingston, Ont., Laura McInnis, Glace Bay, and Justine Buckland, Sydney. Eileen also leaves to mourn her precious, great-grandchildren, Justin and Connor McLeod, Alexandra and Lauren Barrett, Katie and Carly McInnis, Lexy Richardson and Tessa Hannan, whom she cherished with all her heart. Eileen is also survived by sister, Dorothy Tanner, Malden, Mass., and her longtime friend, Clare McNeil, Glace Bay. Eileen was predeceased by the love of her life, Shea, in 1974, as well as her grandson, Donald Fraser, her sisters, Beatrice Jennings, Peggy Wilkie and Elsie Wilkie, her brother, Alex 'Brother' McDonald, and daughter-in-law, Donna McInnis. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of floor 3A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff of 3West at the Glace Bay Hospital during Eileen's short stay over the past week and a half. Visitation will take place at Curry's Funeral Home, Glace Bay, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place Friday at St. John the Baptist Church, New Aberdeen, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (Stewart) Morris. Effie lived in Toronto for over 30 years; where she was employed at local department stores. Effie loved animals; especially cats. But mostly, she will be remembered as a quiet and mild-mannered lady. Effie was a wonderful wife of 50 years to her husband, Basil MacDonald, and mother to her daughters, Denise MacDonald and Deborah (MacDonald) Inovye. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Morris; sister, Marquerite (Morris) MacDonald; brother-in-law, Lloyd MacDonald, Diane (Morris) Warren; brother-in-law, Richard Warren; brothers, Dannie (Teresa) Morris and Stewart Morris. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Effie was predeceased by her older brother, Michael Morris. There will be no visitation or funeral mass. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Interment and graveside prayers will be done at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glace Bay. Born in Sydney Mines, Catherine was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Jobes) MacMullin, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A member of St. Pius X parish, Catherine was an active member of the CWL, having received her 50-year service pin in 2009. In her younger years Catherine enjoyed camping, bowling, her 'club' night and her card games. She was on the housekeeping staff at the Northside General Hospital for 19 years, retiring to enjoy more time with her family. She is survived by her children, Geraldine (Rod) Ferguson, with whom she resided, Maureen (Michael) Harrietha, Ottawa, Pauline, Georges River, Brian (Natalie), Florence, Joan (Art) Rideout Florence; grandchildren, Christopher (Lydia), Ottawa, Sheryl (Claudette), Ottawa, Craig (Juanita), Cynthia (Ron), Angela (Brad), Halifax, Brian Matthew (Danielle), Millville, Stacey (Derrick), Halifax, Gerard, Sydney, Jason (Charlene), Calgary, Kyle, Florence; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lorraine MacMullin, Marie Carey; special friend, Annie Mae MacKinnon and many nieces and nephews.
