Wilkie ******************************************************************************************************* Eleanor (Burton) Ley Born in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 22/12/2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Ley, on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Stan and Elizabeth (Jeans) Burton. Eleanor loved bingo and enjoyed her shopping trips to Zellers. Eleanor had a quick wit and was known for speaking her mind. She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Gus) MacLean, with whom she lived with for 25 years; sons, Gordie (Donita), Barrie, Ont., Bernie (Diane), North Sydney, Dave (Judy) Sydney, Allie (Charlotte), East Bay and extended family members, Ann, Nancy and Judy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin, Sydney, Shauna, Albert Bridge, Gordon Jr., Colleen, Norma and Tammy, all of Ontario, Janet, Karen, David Jr., Kenny, Barry, Darren, Allan Jr., all of Sydney, Lois, New Glasgow, as well as many great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sr.; son, Charles Ley Jr. and daughter, Sharon in infancy; brothers, Melvin Burton, Stanley Burton, Wallace Burton; sisters, Dorothy Penny, Phyllis Williston and Norma Wadden. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all of her family as well as the staff at the Cove Guest Home, who she made quite an impression on. The family would like to thank the staff at the Cove Guest Home and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Kirk Neville officiating. Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of... ****************************************************** Peter Muise Born in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 22/12/2010 It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and great friend Peter G. Muise of New Waterford on Wednesday Dec. 22, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in New Waterford he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (MacDougall) Muise. Peter was a fisherman for over 20 years and later became a Journeyman pipe fitter who worked throughout Canada on various projects. Peter was a member of the pipe fitters Union local 682, the Army, Navy and Air force Unit 217 in New Waterford, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 in New Waterford. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife Janice (Webb); son Matthew (Kelly) New Victoria; daughter Michelle (Ray) Dupe Kitchener, Ont.; stepchildren Linda Wood and Mark MacNeil; brothers Richard (Margaret) New Glasgow, Linus (Carmel) Oshawa, Ont.; sisters Louise MacNeil and Jeanette Muise both of New Waterford. His adoring grandchildren Nickolas, Raelyn, Josh, Jarrett, Katie, Dylan, Matthew, Emily and Meghan. As well as many nieces and nephews and numerous great friends. He will be missed by his friends and the "Boys from the Knot". Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother John Muise; sister Mary (Weagle) Muise; brother-in-law Alex MacNeil and grandson Brandon Muise. Visitation will take place on Tuesday Dec. 28, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. in McLellan Brothers Funeral Home 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford (862-7500). A Mass of celebration will take place on Wednesday Dec. 29, 2010 at the Parish Church of St. Leonard's, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford with Fr. Douglas Mac Donald officiating. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery New Waterford. A luncheon in Peter's honour will be held immediately following at the Army, Navy, and Air Force Unit 217, Wilson Ave, New Waterford all are welcome. Martinello. Olga passed away on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. Born in Whitney Pier, Olga was the daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Lukow) Huczyszyn. Olga was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a longtime member of the CWL, choir and ladies auxiliary, Sydney River; she was a member of Branch 128 Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and choir. Olga was an avid gardener and she loved doing crafts. Her religious faith was very strong. I was blessed to have had such a beautiful human being as my mother and I know everyone who came in contact with her felt her warmth and welcoming. She was a true friend to children and nature. Olga will be sadly missed by her loving and cherished son, Harry A. Martinello, Ontario, brother, John Huczyszyn, Sydney, sisters, Kathryn, Barbara, Annie, Patricia and Mary, Ontario and many friends. Besides her parents, Olga was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Nicholas Martinello; brother, Mikie and sister, Sonia. Visitation for Olga Martinello will be held Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River with Fr. Will MacPherson officiating. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Drover) Smith. Beulah was a homemaker and an adherent of Wesley United Church, Guysborough. She was an active outdoors person who enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening. She is survived by her sons, Brian (Anna Marie Stone), Guysborough; Barry (Donna), Howie Center; Bruce (Lori), Sutton, Mass.; sister, Sylvia Flemming, Toronto, Ont.; brothers, Sheldon, New Waterford; Weldon, Glace Bay; grandsons, Daniel, David, Bill, Bob and Brandon and five great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband, Hartley and brother, Eric. There will be no visitation.
