George MacLean Catherine Bushor John Basil Schaller Sr. Diane MacDonald ******************************************************************************************************* George MacLean Born in: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Passed away in: Englishtown, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 16/12/2010 It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my father, George Robert MacLean, which occurred Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, following a brief illness. Born in Boston, Mass., he was a son of the late Kenneth and Sadie (MacLeod) MacLean. George was employed in sales for most of his life and worked in real estate until retiring to Cape Breton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Princess Patricia Light Infantry. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53, Baddeck, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, in Boston. George is survived by his son Ken MacLean of Englishtown. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his wife Jean (Deckman) MacLean, and his sister Katherine. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 19, 2010, at Riverside Cemetery, Skir Dhu, with Diane Kempt DLM, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Bushor, age 88, on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Ingonish, Catherine was the daughter of the late Archibald and Marcella (MacLennan) MacKinnon. She is survived by her daughter, Alice (Ronald) Mancini, Millville and son, Edward Bushor (Sheila Marlene, and her daughter, Erica), North Sydney; her only two grandchildren, Courtney Dawn Mancini (Freddie Ford), Sydney Mines and Ashley Margaret Mancini (Brent Aucoin), Sydney Mines; her sisters, Margaret MacLean, Ingonish and Emma McKrous, British Columbia. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Edward Bushor and her brothers, Alec, Frank, Johnny, George, Danny, William and Paul. There will be no visitation by Catherine's request. A private family service will be held at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed. Born in Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Hunter) Schaller. John was a retired CAF member (20 years service). Beloved husband and friend to Yvonne (Doublet) for 55 yrs. Father of Catherine (Rick) Kawerski, Brenda (Dave) Shannon, Anndalyn (Haico) Ketellapper and John Jr. (Patti). Pround grandfather of Lisa, Kevin, Kelsey, David, Crystalyn, Sean, Michael and Kari. Great-grandfather of Christopher, Connor, Tyler, Hannah, Emily and Maelle. Diane Janet (Clarkson) MacDonald was called home by her maker and Lord surrounded by her loving family and friends after a brief, but heroic, battle with cancer. Aside from family and community life, Diane worked for many years with the Royal Bank in Sydney Mines and North Sydney where she enjoyed her time with colleagues and customers. Diane was predeceased by her loving parents, Daniel and Annie Clarkson, as well as many beloved family members (Clarkson and Bernon). Diane is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ian; children, Jennifer and Sean (Amy); brother, Tommy (Shirley) Clarkson; parents-in-law, Dougie and Connie MacDonald; immediate family, Stuart (Linda) MacDonald, Bill (Alice) MacDonald, Sandra MacDonald. Joined to mourn are many family and friends including, mentor and cousin, Blanche Gibbs; cousin and close friend, Janet Gordon; lifelong friends, Lois and Joe Mitchelitis and family; close friend, Cecil Clarke and family. A special thank you for outstanding care, understanding and compassion is extended to Louise McKeough and Dr. Michel McKeough as well as to the professional and dedicated staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and the district health authority. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to our St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church family and friends. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at Diane's request. A memorial service celebrating Diane's life will be held Saturday, Dec. 18 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Sydney Mines, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating.
