Ryan Toney Frank 'Robert' Pickles ******************************************************************************************************* Ryan Toney Born in: Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Eskasoni, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 04/12/2010 Ryan Lawrence Toney of 5001 Shore Rd., Eskasoni, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. Born in Truro, he was the son of Carol (Paul) Williams of Windsor, N.S.; Benedict (Annie) Toney of Waycobah, and Diane Erickson of Boston. He was a member of Holy Family parish in Eskasoni. Ryan was an active member of Eskasoni Uechi-Ryu and Judo clubs. He loved to go fishing. He was employed with MLSN (Mi'kmaq Legal Support Network) and other community organizations. Surviving are his common-law partner, Melinda Herney of Eskasoni and ex-wife, Dawn Stevens of Eskasoni; daughters, Denae, Cayden, Damaris; step-daughters, Julianna, Keeley, Keyanna, Kellee; sons, Dasan, Dre, Denon "Ryan Ji-J"; and by granddaughter, Carley and grandson, Malik. He is also survived by sisters, Donna Marie Toney, Boston, Elsie Ann Williams, Windsor, Shona Henderson, Guelph, Ont., Rosie (Jibby) Paul, Eskasoni, Tanya (Carl) MacVicar, Grand Prairie, Alta.; brothers, Peter J. (Mandy) Marshall, Eskasoni, Jacob (Megan) Williams, Windsor, David 'DeeDee' Williams, Windsor, James (Lianne) Sarson, Dartmouth, William Jedore, Bryant Marshall, Eskasoni; his maternal grandmother, Matilda Benot; five godchildren, Devon, Mika, Blake, Carmen and Nathaniel; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Helen Marshall 'Eia'; his father, Peter Marshall Sr.; his sister, Joanne (Marshall) Shalbi and his father, Stanley 'LumLum' Googoo of Indian Brook. Visitation will take place Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 after 7 p.m. at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to twcurry.com. ****************************************************** Frank 'Robert' Pickles Passed away in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Passed away on: 14/11/2010 On Nov. 14, 2010, Bob, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Toronto, after a brief battle with cancer, his wife and friend of 61 years by his side. Bob was the son of the late Frank and Emma (Bishop) Pickles of Sydney. Loved and missed by his wife, Doris (Antonello); sons, Kenneth, Darrell, Robert; daughters, Barbara and Lois; grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of four. Survived by brothers, William and Walter, Sydney, N.S. and a sister, Eileen MacLean, Brantford, Ont. Bob moved to Toronto, 40 years ago with his family, where he was employed by the Workman's Compensation Board, maintenance department, until his retirement. Bob loved to garden, but his happiest times were when the family were all together at Christmas and other special occasions. He was thoughtful, kind and loved life. Bob was predeceased by an infant son, Terrance; brothers, Ronald and Edwin. Relatives and friends were received at Ridley Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Etobicoke, Ont. Interment took place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Mississauga, Ont. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
