Bradley ******************************************************************************************************* Mary Murphy-Kulyk Passed away in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Passed away on: 21/12/2010 A celebration of life for Mary Murphy-Kulyk was held in Toronto, Ont., on Dec. 23, 2010, after she passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Dec. 21 at age 81. Daughter of the late John Alex and Mary (MacKinnon) MacDonald of Grand Mira, she was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Kulyk, and is survived by her daughter, Margaret Murphy (Leo MacDonald); grandson, Alexander; brother, James (Germaine) MacDonald and sister, Marion MacDonald. She was the loving aunt of Wayne MacDonald, Shannon (Jeffrey) Hyland and Jennifer MacDonald. Born in Sydney, NS, she was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Kulyk, and is survived by her daughter Margaret Murphy (Leo MacDonald) and grandson Alexander, brother James (Germaine) MacDonald and sister Marion, and sister-in-law Margaret (Wally) Szwez. Born in Whycocomagh Portage, she was the daughter of the late Richard William and Julia Catherine (MacAulay) Bennett. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck. She is survived by sons, Allan, Baddeck, Carlton, Kelowna, B.C., Francis (Melissa), Kingston, Ont.; sisters, Christine Holland, Montreal, Jamie Hanson, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, George, son, James, brother, Richard 'Buddy'. Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of MacAskill Funeral Home. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Clementine and Nora (Ivany) Reid. Jeanette loved music and will always be remembered for her strong-will and uniqueness. The complete obituary and funeral arrangements will be in Monday's Cape Breton Post. ******************************************************* Parker Langley Born in: Seal Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada Born on: 31/05/1938 Passed away in: Fall River, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 21/12/2010 It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Parker, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and true friend to all, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. He was born in Seal Harbour, Guysborough Co. on May 31, 1938 to Alice (Willett) Langley and the late Harold Langley. In his early teens his family moved to Fourchu, C.B., and then to Sydney where he resided for his next 43 years. In 1961 he married Faye (Pledge) and together they had three beautiful and devoted daughters, Laura Lee, Oakfield, Deanna, Yarmouth and Lana, Fall River. Laura Lee married Sean Carson and they have two children, Parker (Poppie's namesake) and Ashley. Deanna is married to Kelly McCarron and they have two children, Matthew and Alyse. Poppie adored his grandchildren and never missed a hockey or soccer game, skating competition or band recital. Lana lives in Fall River with her mom and dad and has provided on-going devotion and care and assistance over the last two years of Parker's illness. He is also survived by his mother, Alice Langley; sisters, Shirley Robinson, North Sydney, Sandra (Tom) Burchill, Victoria, B.C. and his sister-in-law, Sadie Langley, Sydney. He was predeceased by his father, Harold and his brother, Eric. Parker was a member of the Grand Lake Volunteer Fire Department, a founding member of the Cape Breton Volunteer search and rescue, Kiwanis Club of Sydney where he served as Lieutenant Governor of the Eastern Canada and Carribean Region, Lingan Golf and Country Club, and the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Squadron where he served as commodore. Before retiring, he worked for Modern Aluminum, Island Ford and Kenmount Ford as general manager. He was honoured several times for his excellence in sales and named one of the Top 5 Sales Performers in Canada by Ford Motor Company. He was an accomplished poet and entertained to the delight of many throughout his life. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home. Parker's life will be celebrated at St. John's United Church in Fall River on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at 2 p.m., Rev. Valerie Kingsbury presiding. Reception will follow in the church hall. Eleanor had a quick wit and was known for speaking her mind. She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Gus) MacLean, with whom she lived with for 25 years; sons, Gordie (Donita), Barrie, Ont., Bernie (Diane), North Sydney, Dave (Judy) Sydney, Allie (Charlotte), East Bay and extended family members, Ann, Nancy and Judy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin, Sydney, Shauna, Albert Bridge, Gordon Jr., Colleen, Norma and Tammy, all of Ontario, Janet, Karen, David Jr., Kenny, Barry, Darren, Allan Jr., all of Sydney, Lois, New Glasgow, as well as many great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sr.; son, Charles Ley Jr. and daughter, Sharon in infancy; brothers, Melvin Burton, Stanley Burton, Wallace Burton; sisters, Dorothy Penny, Phyllis Williston and Norma Wadden. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all of her family as well as the staff at the Cove Guest Home, who she made quite an impression on. Bradley - 73 yrs, Sydney Mines - It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Russell A. Bradley of 75 Rateau Street, Sydney Mines. Russell passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in New Waterford, November 5, 1937, Russell was the son of Will and Elizabeth Bradley of Sydney Mines. Russell loved sports and spent a big part of his life playing baseball, hockey and golf. He also loved watching his grandsons play. He spent time in the Canadian Armed forces, serving in the RCR (Royal Canadian Regiment) before returning home to marry the love of his life, Shirley. He leaves to mour his wife of 52 years, Shirley (Bailey), his son, Kenny (Wendy), his daughter, Valerie Lynn (Danny), his grandsons, Lincoln, Jacob and Liam, and his sister, Robena Jessome. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Cemetery, Tobin Road, Sydney Mines at a later date.
