Born in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late Arthur Dominey and Mrs. Mary (MacIntyre) Dominey, Louisbourg. Arthur worked all his life as an engineer on draggers for the National Sea Products Ltd., at the Louisbourg plant. Recently he enjoyed operating his VHF radios assisting many fishing vessels acting as their liaison between sea and land. His voice will be missed. Besides his mother, Mary; Arthur is survived by his children, John, Marla, Scott and Jody (Robin); eight grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra and Darlene (Albert); one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Sr. (2006). Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held 11 a.m Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, in Willow Grove Cemetery, Louisbourg. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Johnson) Donahue. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Anthony's parish and St. Anne's Sodality when it was active. For a period of time she resided at the Valley View Seniors Complex and she enjoyed her years of camaraderie and singing with the Glace Bay Coal Town Chorus. Edie was identified with many community activities and earned the respect, admiration and affection of all those with whom she came in contact. She was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Eileen (Douglas Fisher), Fall River, N.S., Beverly Jackson, Dartmouth, N.S.; grandchildren, Joleen (Jim Orr), Halifax, Dr. Brenda Baird, Ottawa, Ont., Tom Tkach, Toronto, and Joel (Maria) Tkach, Vancouver, B.C.; great-grandchildren, Daniel Orr and Tyler MacIntyre. She is also survived by her loving sister, Thelma Howley; and brother, Harold Donahue, Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews and her special friend, Joyce McKenzie, Glace Bay. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas 'Tommy' Jackson, daughters, Joan Brufatto and Bernice Jackson, two grandsons at birth and Donahue brothers, John, Gordon, Leo, Michael, Edgar and Francis. Family flowers only please. ***************************************************** Donald 'Piper' MacMillan Born in: Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away in: Coxheath, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 21/12/2010 Donald Anthony 'Piper' MacMillan, 86, a resident of Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay, formerly, Leeside Drive, Coxheath, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. Born in Reserve Mines, Piper was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Johnston) MacMillan. Piper was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was a member of Holy Rosary parish, Westmount. In his younger years, Piper was an avid hockey and baseball player. He was a graduate of St. F.X. University and attended St. Anne's and McGill University. For 35 years, he was employed as a Pharmaceutical Rep and was a member of Lingan Golf and Country Club, as well as, the Sydney Curling Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney and Commercial Travellers Association. Surviving are his wife, Dolena (MacDonald); son, Donald (Anne Louise), Sydney; sister, Anne Boyce, Halifax; grandchildren, Michael Joseph and Sheena Kathleen, Sydney. Piper was predeceased by his sister, Mary Allen and brothers, John and Andrew. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Thursday 11 a.m., with Rev. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca. ************************************************************ Harold 'Hallie' Lloyd Passed away in: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed away on: 20/12/2010 We regret to announce the passing of a dear uncle and friend, Harold 'Hallie' Lloyd, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility (Steelworkers Lane) on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010. He was the son of the late Andrew and Nina (Martell) Lloyd of Bridgeport, where he spent most of his life with his sister, Doris Danyluk. Facing many physical challenges daily, Hallie enjoyed working in his workshop with his little dog, Scottie by his side. In healthier years, Hallie spent time at the Row Street, Club, in Bridgeport, playing darts and mingling with many friends. For the last number of years, Hallie lived at Harbourstone and was treated with great dignity and thoughtfulness. The staff on Steelworkers Lane became his family and friends. Upon arriving at Harbourstone, he was fortunate to have found a wonderful friend, Kaz Siepierski and Louise, who looked after his every need and concern. He looked to Hallie as a brother and treated him as such. Hallie waited for his visits and for this, we would like to say, thank you, Kaz. Besides his parents, Hallie was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Louis, Irwin, Melvin, Aubrey and Jackie and sisters, Doris, Florence and Mildred. Hallie is survived by many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Private family interment will take place at a later date, with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating. Gerard was born in Sydney, a son of the late Roderick and Sarah (MacNeil) O'Handley. Gerard was quick witted and always had a joke on hand. He was an avid reader, outdoorsman, outstanding baseball player in his younger years and all around sports enthusiast. He was a foreman with the Cape Breton and Central N.S. Railway. He leaves to mourn his wife, Rodena (MacLean) O'Handley; sons, Darryl (Tammy), Edmonton, Alta., Christopher (Cindy), Cole Harbour and Kyle (partner Robin), Edmonton, Alta.; grandsons, William and Mason O'Handley, Edmonton, Alberta; siblings, Ann Marie Donovan, Big Pond, John O'Handley, Halifax, Roy (Cecilia), Prime Brook, Kathleen (John Allan) MacNeil, Sydney. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Valerie O'Handley and brother-in-law, Joe Donovan. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. Thursday, December 23rd in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Boisdale, from where the funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m., with Fr.
