Angeline O'Connor ******************************************************************************************************* Louis 'Libby' Carocci Born In: Whitney Pier, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Whitney Pier, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 29/05/2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis 'Libby' Carocci, of Maloney Street, Whitney Pier, Sydney, at his home on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Born in Whitney Pier, he was the son of the late Angelo and Philemina Carocci. He was a retired employee of the City of Sydney and worked as a heavy duty mechanic for 25 years before retiring at age 65. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128 and served overseas with the Merchant Marines during the Second World War. He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years. Louis will be greatly missed by his family, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he especially adored. Surviving are daughters, Christine Coutinho (the late Mario), Sydney, Cecile Samson (Lloyd), Port Hawkesbury, Hughena Murphy (Alfred), Glace Bay; sons, Gerald (Patricia), Glace Bay and Jimmy (Debbie), Sydney; sister, Caroline Radcliffe, Winnipeg. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Gerald Carocci, Tracey (Carocci) Ashe, Stephen Samson, Mark Samson, Denise (Carocci) Campbell, Craig Pittman, Ryan Pittman, Christopher Pittman, Brent Coutinho, Bryan Coutinho, Nicole Carocci and Bradley Carocci; five great-grandchildren, Emily Ashe, Robert Ashe, Justyn Gillis, James Campbell and Cayden Pittman. Beside his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Lucy (Ivy) Carocci; daughter, Valerie Pittman; sons, John, Edward, and Louis Carocci. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Jenny White and Elizabeth Ledue; four brothers, Carl 'Cy' Carocci and Nicky, Bob, James and Mikey Chevari. The family would like to extend their thanks to the New Dawn Homecare, City Homemakers and the VON for their wonderful years of service to Louis. Each and every one of you helped to bring a smile to his face and for that, we are deeply grateful. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gracie for his exceptional care over the years. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will take place, with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jessie Livingstone. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 40 years, Bill Carey; her sons, Todd and wife, Stacey, and Trevor; her grandchildren, Nolan and Brylee, who were the absolute pride and joy of her life. Carmie is survived by her sisters, Colleen (Gary), Donna (Louie) and Dolorosa (Ray); her brothers, Martin and Danny (Louise); her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Gardiner (Doug) and Irene LeBeouf (Clem). Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Tom and Mary Carey, brother-in-law, Sonny and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Mary. There will be no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to d.francis@ns.sympatico.ca. ***************************************** Wendell Lillington Born In: Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland, Canada Passed Away In: Neil's Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 28/05/2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Wendell Lillington on May 28, 2011, in the Northside General Hospital with family members by his side. Born in Isle aux Morts, Nfld., he was a son of the late Joshua and Sarah (Harvey) Lillington. Wendell was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Wendell served over seas in the Second World War, as a gunner, mainly in England and Holland. After returning from overseas he worked in Ontario on the lake boats for many years before returning to Neil's Harbour where he worked as a laborer until his retirement. Wendell lived the past two and a half years in the Harbour View Hospital DVA unit in Sydney Mines. Wendell was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #86 as well as the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Neil's Harbour. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Edgar and George; sisters, Jenny, Alice, Gertrude, Elizabeth and Sarah 'Neil'. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in St. Andrews Church, Neil's Harbour, Rev. Warren Huestis will officiate. Born in Sydney, she is the daughter of "Benefit" Joe and Nellie MacDonald. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 63 years, Donald "Whip" Whalen; one sister, Ursula Devan, Sydney; her sons, Michael (Connie) Whalen, Groves Point, Cape Breton, N.S.; Joe (Paul) of Chelsea, Que.; Alfred (Sylvia) Whalen, Eastern Passage, N.S.; one daughter, Darlyne Whalen, Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, Troy (Nancy) Whalen, Calgary, Alta.; Kirk (Kelly) Whalen, Calgary, Alta.; Devin (Jessie) Whalen, Toronto, Ont; Jason Power, Saint John, N.B.; Aaron Power, Moncton, N.B.; Kayla Marie Whalen, Eastern Passage, N.S.; and one great-grandson, Tavin Whalen of Calgary, Alta. After her retirement from teaching, she and Whip enjoyed travelling the world from Florida to Spain to Mexico, but always coming back to spend time with family at the cottage in Margaree Forks. Her favourite hobbies were sewing clothes for herself and the family including making quilts for everyone that will be forever treasured by all. Bert also enjoyed spending her time playing bridge with the girls. Cremation has taken place. No visitation. Angeline O'Connor Born In: Big Pond Centre, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 27/05/2011 M. Angeline O'Connor, 97, of Bedford, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, peacefully at home. Born in Big Pond Centre, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Dan and Margaret (MacDonald) MacLellan. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, she taught school in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario, always proud of the quality of teaching by Atlantic Canadians. After her marriage, she was a partner in operating her husband's farm, a devoted wife and mother. She was twice honoured as a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League, was active in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and pleased to be included on the committee that helped the Rector of St. Michael's Cathedral Toronto host Pope John Paul II in 1984. She lived most of her life in Ontario, returning to Nova Scotia in 2006. Survived by her sons, Daniel (Sharon), Halifax and John (Ilse) Antwerp; her sisters, Sister Florence MacLellan, Sydney and Patricia MacLellan, Halifax, her grandson William O'Connor, Halifax; her foster son, Peter Menzies (Mary) and their sons, Michael and Joseph, Whitby, Ont.; many nieces and nephews, and their growing families. Predeceased by her husband, John O'Connor; brothers, Bernard, Martin (Elizabeth), Angus (Catherine) and Donald, and sisters, Mary, Catherine and Margaret. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, Cruikshank's Funeral Home in Halifax followed by a reception. Visitation 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 3, Turner and Porter Peel Chapel, Mississauga, Ont. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, St. Patrick's Church, Mississauga, followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Streetsville.
