Born in Bras d'Or, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Muriel Anne (Cottrell) Christie Jr. She is survived by her common-law husband, John O'Brian; her children, David Christie, Justin Christie, Jonathan Christie and Katelyn O'Brian; her sisters, Brenda Long (Bobby), Ontario, Helen Lights (Fred), Ontario, Delores Long (Bernard), North Sydney, Ruth Hiscock (Keith), North Sydney, and Georgina Fitzgerald (Charles), Dingwall; her brothers, Michael Christie, North Sydney, Lawrence Christie, Sydney; her godchild, Daniel Christie; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Bras d'Or, he was the son of the late Hartlen and Rita (Jessome) Colvey. He was a member of St. Joseph's parish, Bras d'Or, and a life member of the Bras d'Or Seniors and Pensioners Club. He worked on the Great Lakes for 40 years. Tommy is survived by his sister, Mary Walker; his nieces, Billie, Rita, Mary and Debbie; nephews, Joe and Jamie Power and Bernie. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hubert, Stephen and Louis and his sister, Juanita Power. Born in Pt. Edward, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ada (Lewis) Grant. A devoted Christian, Olney was an active lifelong member of St. Georges Anglican Church, Sydney. Surviving are her sons, Fletcher (Beatrice), Dunstable, Mass., Garvin (Shirley), Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Charles (Sheila), Pt. Edward; daughters, EllenBeth (Buddy Allen), Sydney, and Nonnie, London, Ont.; 20 dearly loved grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Olney was predeceased by her husband, Fraser, sons, Robert and David and grandson, Christopher. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Charlie, Addison and Robert and sisters, Thelma Jackson, Yuba Ingraham, Mary MacLean, Irene Grant and Rita Poirier. Paulette was the daughter of the late Victor and Oriela (Jerrott) Mills. She graduated from the Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. Paulette worked as a supervisor at the Glace Bay General Hospital until she moved into the position bed utilization in Glace Bay then at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital till her retirement in 2009. She will be forever missed by her daughter, Pam (Ray) MacIntosh, Glace Bay; grandson and best friend, Tyler Kolchetski and step-grandsons, Ryan and Chad MacIntosh. She will always be missed and remembered by her close circle of friends. A private service has taken place at Paulette's request. Born in St. Peter's on July 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Landry) MacDonald. Annabelle was a waitress at the Radio Hotel in St. Peter's, Menzies Lunch, The Dome Grill and various other restaurants in Sydney. She also worked as a para-professional at St. Peter's District High. Annabelle had a strong faith in God that carried her through many hardships in her life. She loved family weekends, flowers, cats and hobbies such as playing cards and making jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her sons, Charles (Dora), French Cove; Robert, Sydney; grandsons, Shane and Kevin; sisters, Evelyn and Muriel; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Williams; brothers, John (Elsie), Clarence (Alfreda), Keith (Alice) and sisters, May (Art) Bowser, Beatrice (Reginald) Sampson and a sister in infancy. Lloyd passed away in Massachusetts on Oct. 10, 2010. Lloyd truly loved Cape Breton, its Scottish music and his many friends and relatives who lived here. Sadly missed by all. *************************************** Frederick Thomas Lee Passed Away In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 16/05/2011 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Frederick Thomas Lee on May 16, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Ethel (Ruston) Lee. Dad was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Canada and overseas. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion John Bernard Croak VC branch 3, served as auditor executive commander and held the position of treasurer and chairman of the financial committee for nine years. Dad was awarded life membership of merit for legion service. He was employed with Louisbourg Railway and Devco for 46 years, retiring in September 1987 as shift manager. He is survived by his son, Bernard (Pam), Glace Bay; his daughters, Marie (John Gillis), Glace Bay, and Linda (Lorne Spencer), Glace Bay, Jean (Dr. Jim Doane), Great Village, N.S., and Joan, Halifax. Fred is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Anna Ervin, Glace Bay; and brother, Herbert (Betty), Alberta. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Marie of 59 years, a son, Gerard in infancy, and brothers, Nelson and Bernie. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Married June 19, 1946, at Trinity United CHurch, Whitney Pier to George Henry Barrett (deceased March 5, 2007) in Daytona Beach Florida. Ruth spent many months of each year in Florida and California where her daughters, Paulette Barrett-Matson and Deborah Barrett-Hess live. She is survived by her brother, Wendell Keith Steele and sister Olive Steele-Smith, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Paulette & Henry Matson, Deborah & Bruce Hess and two grandchildren, Holly Hess and Brandon Hess. Ruth peacefully passed away on April 4, 2011, of complications from a stroke. A joint memorial service will be held by the family for both Ruth and George Barrett on May 21, 2-011 at 11 am at Bethel United Church, 2583 Hillside Road, Marion Bridge.
