Ritchie Back to Cape Breton Post Born In: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Donkin, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 06/05/2011 It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jimmy Ritchie on May 6, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late James and Pauline Ritchie. He is survived by Elizabeth Kuramai who was very dear to his heart; four children and 14 grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jimmy was also predeceased by his brother, John. As per his request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. MacLelland, 98, of New Victoria, C.B., passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late William and Laura (Wagner) Noseworthy. She is survived by daughters, Lois (Edgar) Doull, Kentville, Evelyn Adamson, New Glasgow, June Schaump, Whitby, Ont.; a son, William Charles 'Bill', River Ryan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles William MacLelland and an infant daughter, Jacqueline. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Born in Dominion, she was the youngest child of the late Walter Isaac Donovan and Brigitte (LeBlanc) Donovan. Monica is survived by her 12 children, Lynne Tuttle, Dartmouth, Vince (Sandi), St. Albert, Alta., Dale (Sheila), Brookside, N.S., Carole MacIntyre (Ross), Port Hawkesbury, N.S., Catherine Howes, Orillia, Ont., Judy Miltimore (Bob), Port Dover, Ont., Bruce and Joel, Dominion, N.S., Kelly Dillon (Bill Spenser), Stephen (Dale), Dartmouth, N.S., Tom, Halifax, N.S., and Anthony (Sandra), Burlington, Ont. Nanny will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Stephen, Kim, Kevin, Kyle, Ian, Brad, Nicolle, Heather, Aaron, Nathan, Shawn, Ryan, Curtis, Madison, Scott, Alanna; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kincaid, Lincoln and Jonah. She was a very social person who loved being with others. Her sense of humour and compassion touched everyone she met. Monica was a member of St. Eugene's Church, Dominion, and at one time also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved playing cards and looked forward to her weekly 'scat/rummoli' club as well as attending card games at the Gardiner Pensioner's Club. Our family would like to give special thanks to Ma's homecare workers who always found special time for her. We would also like to thank Dr. James MacLean, the ICU staff, and the palliative care nurses at the Glace Bay Hospital. Visitation will be held today (Monday, May 9) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 10 at 3 p.m. at St. Eugene's Church, Dominion. Fr. Daniel Boudreau will be officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Born in South Harbour, Victoria County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Annie Effie (Dunphy) Petrie. Evangeline was a great homemaker and a member of St. Joseph's parish and a life time member of St. Joseph's CWL. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 66 years, Thomas Dixon, children, Evelyn Dixon, Calvin (Karen) Dixon, Leonard (Irene) Dixon, Deborah (Melvin) Burton, Jean (Lawrence) Walsh, Nina (Richard) Connors, grandson, James (Cheryl) Dixon, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and sister Mary Boudreau.
