He passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alta., after a brief illness. Born on Aug. 15, 1961, he was the son of Marguerite (Harding) Brown and the late Wilfred Brown. Doug is survived by his mother, Marguerite; brother, Robert, Sydney Mines; sister, Rachael, Enfield; and brother-in-law, William (Bicky) Cantwell, Sydney Mines. He is also survived by his nieces, Danielle, Katie and Alexandra Cantwell, all of Sydney Mines, and niece and nephew, Jaclyn and Alexander LeBlanc, Enfield. Doug is also survived by his aunt, Blanche, Dingwall; and several cousins. He leaves behind some special friends from Alberta, where he lived for over 25 years. Besides his father, Wilfred Brown, Doug was predeceased by his sister, Darlene and several aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in the J.M. He was born in O'Leary, P.E.I., on Aug. 24, 1946, the son of the late Roderick and Irene MacNevin. In his younger years, Keith belonged to the Canadian military police. Later, he worked for Canadian Pittsburg as a glazier, until he relocated to Toronto. He is survived by his children, Donnie, Gwen, Darlene, Bradley and Cheryl and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin and Brian and sisters, Dorothy, Jean and Joan. Also, his longtime friend, Marie Bruner. He was predeceased by his wife of many years, Florence Ann, his parents, brother, Norman and infant sister, Rose Lorraine. Cremation has taken place. Penny Born In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 25/05/2011 It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of a special husband, father and grandfather, William 'Bill' Penny, 87, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Harbour View Hospital Veterans Wing, Sydney Mines. Born in North Sydney, Bill was the son of the late John and Rena (Lynch) Penny. He was a veteran of the Second World War, where he served in France, Holland and Belgium, and then in the Korean War, where he became ill with malaria and had to return home. He met and married Rita and together they had two children Debbie and Bill Jr. He was employed for many years as a rigging instructor at the Adult Vocational Training Center, Sydney until his retirement in 1978. Bill was a very quiet and humble man who loved his family without question. He and Rita took great joy in spending time with their children and especially their grandchildren. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, and a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bill is survived by his wife and 'love of his life' for 58 years, Rita (MacInnis) Penny; his daughter, Debbie (David) Rose, North Sydney, and their children, Lori (Cole), Jamie (Stephanie), Melissa (Carl) and Lindsay (Kyle); his son, Bill (Edie), Sarnia, Ont., and their sons, Bill (Amanda) and Stephen (Mellisa); and also his five great-grandchildren, Madison and Kyleigh Chambers, Tigh and Hannah Rose and Rhyann Penny; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Eddie and Ernest 'Butch' as well as sisters, Cecilia, Louise, Minnie and Georgina. At Dad's request there will be no visitation. Born in Wagmatcook, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Mary Rose (Pierro) Basque. Marie was a caring, kind and classy lady who would comfort you in need and always had kind words of wisdom. Marie loved music, karaoke, TV bingo and especially looking out for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church, now known as the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha parish in Wagmatcook. She was well known for her baking, cooking and family gatherings and always had many visitors to drop in for some tea. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Jo Peck-Isadore, Priscilla (Isadore) Googoo and Fallon Isadore, all of Wagmatcook; her son, Travis Isadore (Amanda), Paqtnkek; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one godchild, Anthony Peck; numerous nieces and nephews and one surviving aunt, Christina Aucoin of Sydney River. Also left in mourning are her siblings, sisters, Bridget (Frederick), Brenda, Sophie; brothers, Charles, Samuel, Wilfred, Michael, Carl, all of Wagmatcook, Brian of Ottawa, Ont.
