Frederick Thomas Lee Constance Marie 'Connie' Walker ******************************************************************************************************* Frederick Thomas Lee Passed Away In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 16/05/2011 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Frederick Thomas Lee on May 16, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Ethel (Ruston) Lee. Dad was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Canada and overseas. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion John Bernard Croak VC branch 3, served as auditor executive commander and held the position of treasurer and chairman of the financial committee for nine years. Dad was awarded life membership of merit for legion service. He was employed with Louisbourg Railway and Devco for 46 years, retiring in September 1987 as shift manager. He is survived by his son, Bernard (Pam), Glace Bay; his daughters, Marie (John Gillis), Glace Bay, and Linda (Lorne Spencer), Glace Bay, Jean (Dr. Jim Doane), Great Village, N.S., and Joan, Halifax. Fred is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Anna Ervin, Glace Bay; and brother, Herbert (Betty), Alberta. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Marie of 59 years, a son, Gerard in infancy, and brothers, Nelson and Bernie. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Born in Reserve Mines, Connie was the daughter of the late Michael and Jennie (MacLeod) MacPherson. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport. Connie loved reading, listening to country music, especially Daniel O'Donnell, baking and planting flowers. A private lady by nature, her priority in life was her family. Connie is survived by her companion and best friend, her cat, Saucey, children, Judy Simmons, David (Gail), Donnie (Mary) and Kathy Caldwell. Also surviving are grandchildren, Patricia, Susanne, Ryan, Troy, Angela, Bernard, Kenny, Amanda, Glenn, Jon-Adam, Joshua, great grandchildren, Harrison, Jessica, Justin, Jillian, Rylee, Alyssa, Hannah, Ethan, Dylan, Peyton, Hailey, Ellie and Gracie. Left to mourn Connie's passing are her son in law, Matthew MacPherson, special nephew, Ronnie Walker, best friend from child hood, Marge Broderick and sister in law, Effie O'Meara. Connie was predeceased by her husband, Peter Walker, daughter, Mary MacPherson and son in law, Gordie Simmons. Visitation is Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street,Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Daniel Boudreau is Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a reception in the parish hall.
