Jessie Mudge Evelyn Livingstone Annie McInnis Mary 'Marilyn' Cameron John 'Jack' Miller John 'Jack' MacDougall Marjorie Cordingley Edgar and Helen Matheson ******************************************************************************************************* Jessie Mudge Born In: Englishtown, Nova Scotia, Canada Born On: 26/12/1927 Passed Away In: Englishtown, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 03/05/2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Jessie Belle Mudge on May 3, 2011, at home. She was 83 years young. Born Dec. 26, 1927, in Englishtown, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Margaret MacAskill. Jessie was predeceased by her husbands, John L. Christie in 1966 and Thomas Mudge in 2004. She is survived by children, Norrie, John (Susan), David (Joan), Beckie, Eddie (Lisa), Angus (Mary), Lloyd (Gayle) as well as 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A member of the St. Ann's Bay United Church, Jessie will be fondly remembered for her love of having a house full of family and friends gathered in the kitchen filled with friendly jokes, music and political banter. All were welcome, especially children. Our Christmas' will never be the same. Jessie will be dearly missed by all, including her brothers and sisters, Anna (Jim), Tena (Jim), Kennie (Lillian), Norman (Patsy), Jane (Malcolm), Angus (Marion), George (Marguerite), John (Donelda), Carola (Roddie), Emiline (Carly) and Barbara (Leo). Jessie is also survived by special friend, Nellie Gielen; daughter-in-law, Maria; son-in-law, Bobby; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Eugene in infancy and brothers, Allister (Donna) and Archibald. The family would like to thank all those who helped in Jessie's care, especially Dr. John Kirkpatrick and Victoria County Home Care. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A committal service will be held at Bay View Cemetery at 3 p.m. on May 12, 2011, with a reception at the Englishtown Hall immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jessie's memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. ************************************ Evelyn Livingstone Born In: Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Passed Away On: 22/04/2011 It is with great sadness that we, the family of Evelyn, announce her passing on April 22, 2011, in Ottawa. Born in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late William and Emily (Searle) Jenkins. She is survived by daughter, Sandra, Ottawa; sons, Kenneth (Brenda), Ottawa, David (Diana), Halifax. Also two grandsons, Brian and Steven; great-grandson, Dylan, Houston, Texas; sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Blackwood, Sydney Mines, Yvonne Francis, Guelph, Ont.; half-brothers, Rudy (Rosaire) Jenkins and Wayde (Shelly Asaph) Jenkins; half-sisters, Vera (Carly) Chow, Beth (Duncan) Gillis, Pauline (Rodney) MacMullan, Jewel (John MacKenzie) Jenkins, Mardina (Norman) Overdijk, all of Baddeck. She was predeceased by her husband, David Livingstone, brothers, William, Cecil, Murdock and Earl Jenkins, sisters, Carrie Harding, Mary Murray and Vera Robson. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held, 11 a.m., June 4, 2011, in St. James Cemetery, Big Bras d'Or, Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow the memorial service in St. James Presbyterian Church Hall. ************************************ Annie McInnis Born In: Montréal, Quebec, Canada Passed Away In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 05/05/2011 Annie McInnis, a former resident of Maple Avenue, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Victoria Haven Nursing Home. Annie was born in Montreal and raised in Birch Grove, a daughter of the late John and Maria (Glowacki) Shewchuck. She had been a longtime member of St. Anthony's parish and St. Anne's Sodality; a member of the garden club and enjoyed oil painting. She was an avid bridge player and was a teacher of handcrafts, particularly macramé at the Citizens Service League. In her younger years she enjoyed watching sports, was a political enthusiast and most of all she loved to dance. She baked many birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. A knowledgeable and charitable person, she made a multitude of friends over the years. She knitted over 100 preemie sets for the IWK for which she received a certificate for her kindness. She and her late husband, Tommy loved taking their relations and friends to the cottage in Framboise. Aunt Annie had a zest for life that never failed to lift your spirits during any visit. She will be dearly missed. She was also predeceased by her husband, Tommy McInnis, sister, Jennie (Eddie) Mleczko, brothers, Mike, William (Jean) and Steve, nephew, Billy Shewchuck and her aunt, Auntie Annie (Petneski) Drabek. Annie is survived by her brother, Metrick 'Met' Shewchuck; sister-in-law, Margie (Shewchuck) Holman; and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation will be Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (no visitation Sunday) in Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. The Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday in St. Anthony's Church, Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca. *************************************** John 'Jack' Miller Born In: Hornes Road, Nova Scotia, Canada Born On: 18/06/1917 Passed Away In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 04/05/2011 On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Jack passed away peacefully at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay, with family at his side. Born June 18, 1917, at Horne's Road, Mira, Jack was the son of the late John and Harriet (Spencer) Miller. In his early years, he enjoyed hiking, swimming, and boating on the Mira River. During the Second World War, he was a member of the RCAF. For two years, he flew maintenance missions, testing aircraft artillery out of Jarvis, Ont. Upon discharge from the services, he spent a short time studying journalism in Moncton, N.B. When he returned to Sydney, he worked for a short time surveying local roads before a 35 year career as a postal clerk with Canada Post. Throughout his working years, he enjoyed the summer months camping with his family, touring the Maritimes and Maine. A highlight of his life was a special trip to California, Nevada and Arizona where he watched the sunrise over the grand canyon, with his family and friends. Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Gladys (Simms); daughter, Barbara; son, Glenn (Diane) and his two deeply cherished Shelties, Brandi and Brady. He is also survived by his nieces, Bonnie (Carlos) Cazorla, Penticton, B.C., Jean (Brian) Anderson, Bedford, N.S. and Debbie Miller, Calgary, Alta.; nephews, John (Theresa), Sydney and Keith, Tumber Ridge, B.C. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Harvey, Albert and Wallace and two cherished dogs, Chimo and Kayla, whom he loved dearly. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ the King on Saturday 11 a.m., with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall. We, the family, would like to thank the staff of the DVA wing at Taigh Na Mara for all the loving care given to Jack during his three years living there. He told us many times how lucky he was to be there and to be shown such kindness and care. We also give thanks to the doctors and nurses at the CBRH, Renal Dialysis Unit for their kind and loving care during Jack's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of one's choice. Born in North Sydney, he was the eldest son of Betty (Edwards) MacDougall, North Sydney and the late Johnny MacDougall. He had been employed with Canada Packers for 43 years. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, where he was involved in many aspects of the church community. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who loved to cook and enjoyed fishing, especially annual fishing trips with his brothers. He is survived by six daughters, Denise (Jamie) Snyder, New Minas; Sandra (Brian) Wentzell, Bedford; Janet (David) Payne, Therese (Scott) Forsythe and Karen (Danny) MacDonald, all of Kentville; Donna, Toronto; a son, Rob, Kentville; close family friend, Andrew Kellock; four brothers, Joe (Rilla), Bass River; George (Corrine), Sydney Mines; Jim (Shirley), Kitchener, Ontario; Greg, Calgary; 11 grandchildren, Mitchell, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Alison, Ethan, Isaac, Jack, Thomas, Connor, Erin and Morgan; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Geraldine 'Gerry' Dooley; a brother, Cameron. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011 with prayers to be held at 8 p.m., both in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Fr. Craig Christenson officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. A reception will follow in St. Joseph's Parish Centre. Family flowers only, by request. Died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband, David Cordingley, children, Lorne (Sally), Sharon (David), Stephen and Geoffrey (Gina); grandchildren, Allan, Andrea, Elliott, Danielle and Monica and her sister, Joan Morrison (Leonard). She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Lillico in 1980 and her brothers, Rollie and Eric. Marjorie was a longtime resident of Grimsby and was involved in many community activities over the years.
