Edie passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born May 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late William and Sis (Petrie) MacDonald. Edie was employed as a custodian at South Street School, Sterling School and head custodian at Glace Bay School since its opening. She loved going to the casino with her best friends, Jean MacDonald and Madelyn Munroe. Edie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cathy (Gerry), North Sydney, Jennifer, Newfoundland; sons, Jamie (Michelle), Glace Bay, and Barry, at home; cherished grandchildren, Matthew Chauder, Jamie, Danielle and Dylan MacDonald, Randy and Candy MacDonald; and sister, Lorna Yorke, Ontario. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James 'Piggy', daughter, Lorna, and son, Todd. In honoring Edie's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The family will have a meet and greet at 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Fr. Leo Boone will be officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Edie's memory may be made to Spina Bifida Association or IWK, Ronald McDonald House are suggested. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Mrs. Stella (Perry), Sydney, and the late Robert Tellum. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by all whom knew him. Besides his mother, Stella, Perry is survived by his daughter, Alysa; two sons, Robert and Allan; his sister, Marguerite LeMoine, Louisbourg; brothers, David (Margaret) Tellum, Louisbourg, Robert (Mindy) Tellum, Sydney; grandchildren; special aunt and uncle, Olive and Jackie D'Vries, as well as niece, Tammy LeMoine-Burke; nephews, Charles LeMoine, Chris Tellum and David Jr. Tellum. Irene passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Cape Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Sydney. Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Gertrude (MacKenzie) MacInnis. Irene had a good sense of humour and she loved the summer, going to the beach and gardening. She also was a great hockey fan. Irene will be sadly missed by her daughters, Evelyn, Glace Bay, Elaine Mancuso (John), Delaware, USA; son, Harry, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mary, Cecilia; brothers, Pius, Paul and Bernard. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers. In honoring Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Irene will be held Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow in V.J. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (McUmber) Buist. As a pastime, she enjoyed knitting and sewing and spending time with her family. Lenora is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Gordon) Wareham, Sydney; her brother, Ernest (Jessie) Buist; nine grandchildren, Danielle, Wayne, Brian, Charles, Julie, Donald, Neil, Graham and April; several great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Philip Ormond, second husband, Donald MacLeod, two daughters, Dorothy Young and Helen Rideout, three grandchildren, Audrey Lynn, Philip and David Young, three sisters and two brothers. Born in Glace Bay, Bruce was the son of the late George Lambert and Clara (Clark) Lambert. Bruce was raised by his eldest brother, Bill and Winnie (Parsons). He was predeceased by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Left to mourn is his loving wife of 54 years, Anne Marie (MacNeil); daughter, Carmen; son, Paul Wm. (Patricia); grandchildren, Tyler Wm., Stephanie and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Landon, Bailey and Taylen; sisters, Edith Penny and Joyce Verbiski. Bruce was a coal miner for 35 years, working in several mines during his career. In his younger days he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also a member of the Birch Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends on Saturday afternoons. Bruce was a loving friend, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always loved and always will be. Visitation for Bruce Lambert will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, on Tuesday, May 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. in Knox United Church with Rev. Russell passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital due to complications of pneumonia. Born in Glace Bay, Russell was the son of the late Phillip and Jenny (Cormier) Nearing. He was a member of St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay. Russell was a former member and treasurer of the Sergeant's Mess. He was a former employee of Devco. Also, for a period of time he was a bartender at the Pitt Head. Russell is survived by his daughters, Lynda (Arthur) 'Teddy' King, Glace Bay, Patricia Nearing, North Sydney; sons, Leonard (Sherri), Edmonton, Alta., Russell Jr. (Florence), with whom he resided; grandchildren, Dana and Christopher; step-grandchildren, David and Ashley, step-great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ainsley, Ceilidh, Taylor; brothers, Phillip, Patrick; sisters, Ethel, Charlotte, Laura, Marion, Sheila, Sharon, Viola and his best buddy, Blue. She was the daughter of the late Lamont and Winnifred (Bryson) Rutherford. Born and raised in Sydney, Ida was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, where she was a member of the CWL. She was an avid sports fan who loved watching hockey and baseball on TV and with her sister Leona better known as "the twins", held season tickets for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. She also loved going to bingo and card games. She is survived by her daughter, Hughena (Doug) Langille, Halifax; son, Andrew 'Bo' (Judy), Sydney; sister, Leona Dobbin; and brother, J.B. Rutherford, both of Sydney; her five grandchildren, Lisa, Laura and Leslie Langille, Halifax, Paul MacNeil, Sydney, and Bryson (Emily) MacNeil, Petawawa, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her husband, Murdock MacNeil, son, Paul, brother, Bob, Charlie, Monty and sisters, Lail, Grace, Ardella and Barbara. Born in Eskasoni, he was a son of the late Andrew and Annie(Michael) Paul. He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Colin was a hard worker who loved his family, being in Malagawatch, fishing and a good joke. He is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Audie) Julian, Colleen (Patrick) Paul, Nancy (Terrance) Paul, all of Eskasoni; his sons, Leslie (Paula) Paul and Wilfred (Belinda) Johnson of Paqtnkek; foster daughters, Trish Marshall, Courtney Marshall and Ursula Marshall, all of Membertou. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann (Stephen) Martin and Mary (Peter) Poulette of Wekoqamaq; five brothers, Joe Mike (Grace) Paul, Andrew Paul, Douglas (Alice) Paul, all of Wekoqamaq, Peter Paul and Michael Paul of Eskasoni; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Mary 'Mamie' (Brown) Ross. Buster was employed at Sydney Steel Rod and Bar Mill until an injury in 1973. Later he returned to work and was in the electrical shop. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a great carpenter. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who enjoyed spending time with their 'poppy'. Surviving are his loving wife, of 62 years Mildred (Millie) Jackson; sons, George (Ingrid), Wayne, Gary (Lynn), Blair (Sarah), Russell (Sue), Roger (Jacquie), John (Carrie), Brent (Michelle) and Brad (Debbie); daughters, Glenda Orychock, Elaine (Bobby) Joyce, Wilma (Gerry) Giroux, Arlene (Pierre) McCarthy, Janet (Richard) MacPhee; one sister, Marie (Raymond) Stephens; and his son-in-law, Darrell Crane. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Ernest Frederick and Grace (MacMillan) Latham. David was chair of the Property Committee and past Elder of First United Church, Sydney. After 31 years of service in the Engineering Department at Nova Scotia Power, he remained active and enjoyed traveling, especially with the gang to Cuba, restoring antique cars with his eldest son, quality time with the grandchildren, and spending free time at the bungalow. Surviving are his devoted and loving wife, Lorraine (Theuerkauf); sons, Allan (Brenda), Sydney, Stephen, Ottawa and Jonathan, Halifax; sister, June MacDonald, Sydney; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan David and Mikayla; four nieces, two nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at First United Church on Tuesday 2 p.m., with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating.
