'Tillie' Gillis Arnold Roger LeBlanc ******************************************************************************************************* Josephh 'Joalex' MacInnis Passed Away In: Alberta, Canada Passed Away On: 25/07/2011 On Monday, July 25, 2011, Joseph MacInnis passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 49, following a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. Joe always had a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye, and never gave up his fight. He was an inspiration to all of us, in return giving us the strength needed to help him through his battle. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Geraldine; his two children, Meghan and Ryan; his grandchildren, Casey (Little Joe) and Jacob; his parents, Sonny and Rose; his siblings, Angela, Peggy, Roddie, Annais, Mona Lisa, Helena and Neil; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park, Alta. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 13 Brower Dr., Sherwood Park. A special thanks to Dr. A. Born in Borris Co. Carlow, Ireland he was a son of the late John and Kathleen (O'Brien) Whelan. Peter is survived by wife, Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann (Ellis); children, Colleen Tara (Murdock) Whelan-Smith, Daniel Peter (Carresa Alleyne) Whelan and Kathleen Elizabeth Whelan; siblings, Luie (Fred) Roberts, Veronica (Pat) McCarthy, Patricia (Jack) Minchin, Bridgit (Peter) Higgins, Rene (Michael) Kelly, Mary (Pat) Sullivan, Daniel (Breda) Whelan, all of Ireland and Fr. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Mary (Addie) McNeil and the late Joey Mann. Joey was a journeyman autobody mechanic for 40+ years. He will be sadly missed by his loving companion, Noreen; his only sister, Gee (Robert) Lanceleve; daughters, Dawn Marie (Wally), Glace Bay, Nanette (Rolland), Fort McMurray, Alta.; sons, Stephen (Monika), Catalone Gut, and J.J., at home; stepsons, Tim (Rhonda), Ontario, Lonnie, Ontario; grandchildren, Naish, Tyler, Brandon and Little Stephen; step-grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Noah, Tanner, Mikie, Justin; numerous nieces and nephews; his close friends, Bob Campbell, Roy, Gussie, Terrance, David DuChene; and many more friends. Online condolences may be sent to the family www.pattenfuneral.com **************************************** Farrell Angustus Bonnar Born In: Little Pond, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 27/07/2011 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father Farrell Augustus Bonnar, 87, a resident of the Veteran's Wing at Harbour Vew Hospital, Sydney Mines on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Little Pond, Farrell was the son of the late James and Flora (Nicholson) Bonnar. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the Canadian Army. Farrell was employed for a number of years with T.C. Gorman Ltd. and later as a longshoreman loading the boats to St. Pierre and until his retirement he was employed as a taxi driver with Stagg's Taxi. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, North Sydney. Farrell was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his daughter, Debby (Nayland) MacAskill, Millville; and sons, Wayne Bonnar, North Sydney, and Billy (Edie) Bonnar, Millville; two grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Kalie, Boston, and Denton, Toronto; numerous nieces and nephews; his good friend, Jackie Evans and roommate, Adrian Barrie. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Catherine Bonnar, his two sons, Johnny and Farrell, two daughters, Linda and Florence, brothers, Gus, William, Daniel and John James, sisters, Margaret, Ellie, Florence and Anne. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Veteran's Wing of the Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines, who were very good to him and he enjoyed teasing them, to Dr. John Kirkpatrick for taking such good care of him, and to Dr. Coish and the ER Nurses. We also want to thank Rollie and Lynn Clarke and the staff at Rollies Wharf, where he enjoyed spending time, for being so kind to Dad over the years. There will be no visitation by request. She is survived by her four children, Zeek (Terry), Russell (Kathy), Gary, Cora (Brian) and one grandchild, Carolanne. She also has one sister that she loves dearly, Maroin (Blair). She worked at Mcfadgens Bakery for eight years with a great bunch of people. Besides working, Judy use to like to go for walks, and have a good time with her sister-in-law, Bernadette. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex, palliative care in Sydney and to the staff of the VON. We would also like to thank friends and family for being there when we needed you the most. Visitation will be on Friday, July 29, from 7-9 p.m. at Curry's Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Born in Sydney, Tillie was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary (MacNeil) Currie (Columbia St.), Sydney. She was educated at Constantine and Sydney Academy and was a graduate of N.S. Normal College. Left to mourn her passing are daughter, Jane (Roy) Hella and sons, Daniel and Paul, all of Albuquerque. She was a wonderful "Nana" to her precious grandchildren, Mollie and Joe. Also surviving are her brother, Michael and sisters, Helen (Steve) Pachok, all of Sydney and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Tillie was predeceased by husband, Gerald Gillis (formerly of Glace Bay) and a son, Joseph; sisters, Theresa and Frances and brothers, Donald, Neil and Peter (in infancy). Born in Bras d'Or, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mary (MacDonald) LeBlanc. Arnold was an employee of Canada Steamship Lines as a first officer. His career spanned over 45 years and during that time, he also worked for N.M. Patterson and Sons Shipping. Arnold is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy (Scott) LeBlanc; daughters, Tanya (Marty) Calder, Elizabeth and one son, Curtis; grandchildren, Cameron, Alexa and Ethan. He is also survivied by brothers, George (Carmelita), Bras d'Or and Greg (Candy), Georges River; sisters, Goritti (Stewart) Caldwell, Groves Point and Sally (Edward) Fraser, Sydney Mines; brother-in-law, Sandy (Agnes) Scott, Sydney; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (David) Ronayne, Georges River and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Cyril, Butch, Clair and Gerard (in infancy). A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating.
