Born in Reserve Mines, he was a son of the late Dan and Bessie (MacLeod) McMullin. Dan was a member of St. Joseph's parish and a life member of Reserve Mines Vol. Fire Dept. He was an avid salmon fisherman and hunter in Loch Lomond, where he spent many happy days. He owned and operated the local barbershop in Reserve Mines, where was affectionately known as 'the barber' or "Dannyboy". He will be remembered for his loving personality and sense of humour. Danny was a devoted husband and father who will be missed by his wife and best friend of 51 years, Rose (nee Bisson), who never left his side; by sons, Robert (Judy) and Dan (Valerie); daughter, Rose (Tyler Sehl); daughter-in-law, Marilyn; brother, Billy (Lorraine); sisters, Margie (Howie) and Ritchie (Lorne); grandchildren, Tanya, Robert, Adam, Andrew, Colin, Mitchell, Chantelle, Ryan, Brandon and Caitlin; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Kaileigh, all of whom he loved dearly. Danny was also a special uncle to many nieces and nephews, whom he adored. Besides his parents, Danny was predeceased by his son, Lubie; sister, Mary Catherine and brother, Tucker. He was 85. Born Aug. 25, 1925 in Donkin, N.S., he was the son of the late William and Laura (Hall) Grant. Prior to retirement, Donald was a Public Health Inspector for the Province of Newfoundland and was a member of The United Nations Peacekeeping Veteran's Society in Sydney, N.S. Donald was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Canada, Donkin, N.S. Donald is survived by five children, Laura Edwards of Lincoln, N.B., Donna Grant (Bob) of Fredericton, N.B., William L. Grant (Gail) of Niton, Alta., R. Keith Grant (Maria) of London, Ont. and Jacqueline P. Grant (Chris) of Brampton, Ont.; one sister, Gwen Milley of Glace Bay; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; his wife, Jane 'Jean' (Snow) Grant (2009); four brothers, Leonard, Edwin, Wilfred and Lawrence; three sisters, Gladys, Doris (Peg) and Patricia; grandson, Chris Weese; infant son, Donald Wilfred Grant and son-in-law, Lloyd Edwards. Born in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Mary (Kennedy) Myler. Survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lyle 'Louie' Pitt; two sons, John (Andria) and Pat; a daughter, Karen (Richard) Crouse; two grandchildren, who are her pride and joy, Kerri Crouse and Greg Pitt; sister, Alice (Joe) MacDougall; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters, Alex (Ada) Myler, Cyril (Duna) Myler, George Myler, Ellen Nellie Myler, Bridget (Aaron) Beddow, Ann (Tony) Reilly, Catherine (Harry) Cleary, and Margaret (Bob) Osborne. Yvonne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and worked as a registered nurse. Like the profession she always looked after everyone around her, a generous, giving and caring person. Yvonne had a talent for any craft she tried, and spent hours making beautiful quilts, sweaters, paintings and other crafts for family and friends. He passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loved ones, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Louie was born in Neil's Harbour on Feb. 28, 1946 to the late Edgar and Suse Lillington. He was a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Neil's Harbour. He worked at the Co-op in Neil's Harbour as a meat cutter for 35 years and happily just retired. Louie was also very compassionate about his favourite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a loyal member of AA for 25 years. Louie will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 44 years, Alice (MacKinnon); his loving children, Kaye (Scottie) MacDonald, South Harbour, Charlie (Karen) Lillington, Kevin Lillington, both of Neil's Harbour and Kelvin (Ashley) Lillington, Ingonish, along with his grandchildren, whom he adored so much, Scott, Geena, Veronica, Dillan and Karalee. He is also remembered by his twin sister, Louise (Donald) Ashford; his sister, Lila Pourier; his brothers, Raymond (Gaye) and Wilford (Irene), along with many nieces and nephews. Born in Sydney on March 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert 'Bert' and Cecilia (White) Lotherington. Bernice graduated from the Nova Scotia Normal College as a teacher and from the Cape Breton Business College as a secretary. She loved music and passionately played the piano. She had been unable to work for many years due to ill health. Bernice was predeceased by her parents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by many cousins on both sides of the family. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility for their kindness and supportive care these past months. Cremation has taken place. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John Angus and Agnes (MacDonald) MacAskill. Ella was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed baking, knitting, gardening and especially spending time with her family, who she adored. Her house was also opened to anyone who wanted to drop by for her tea biscuits.
