William Wareham Kathleen (Henderson) Murray James Fletcher MacKinnon ******************************************************************************************************* William Wareham Born In: Birch Grove, Nova Scotia, Canada Born On: 13/12/1920 Passed Away On: 06/07/2011 William Wareham, 90, of Glace Bay passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the New Waterford Hospital. Born in Birch Grove, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ann Wareham. He was employed at Devco for 47 years and was a member of Epworth United Church, MacDougall Loyal Orange Lodge, Golden Rule, Royal Black Persecutory, Branch 3 Royal Canadian Legion and the Dominion Pensioners Club. William served overseas in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. He spent many hours woodworking in his barn, loved spending time on the Mira, and in his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball. Surviving are son, Jim (Nellie), Truro; stepsisters, Jerusha (George), California, Barbara (Carl), British Columbia, Sharon (Emile), Kingston, N.S.; stepbrothers, Clyde (Bonnie), Sackville, Frank, Glace Bay, Baxter, Ontario, Howard, Ontario; grandchildren, Jimmy (Barb), Sheldon (Debbie), Janet (J.B.); great-grandchildren, Christine, Kelsie, Emily, MacKenzie, who were his pride and joy. Also survived by longtime friend, Elsie Ellsworth; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Ontario. Predeceased by parents, loving wife, Janet, stepmother, Maude Wareham, daughters, Ralphina, Winnifred, grandson, William, brothers, Elijah, Earnest, Sam, Charles, sisters, Dorothy, Sarah, Margaret, Clara and Claudine. Visitation for the late William Wareham will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev Michael Goodfellow officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Online condolences may sent to the family at www.pattenfuneral.com. ********************************************* Kathleen (Henderson) Murray Born In: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away In: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed Away On: 05/07/2011 Kathleen Emily (Henderson) Murray, 83, of Halifax, N.S., passed away July 5, 2011, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of John Louis Henderson and Hogarth 'Hogie' Henderson (nee Meadus). She attended Sydney Academy and worked briefly at T. Eaton Co. and for a longer time at Revenue Canada in Sydney. After her marriage, she lived for a time in Florenceville, Saint John, N.B. and Truro, N.S. before moving to the Halifax area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and represented the United Church Young Peoples of Cape Breton at a convention in Winnipeg in 1953. She was an accomplished singer, participating as a soloist at First United Church, Sydney, as well as a paid soloist at several churches in Cape Breton. She performed in several musical productions in the Sydney area including Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado" in which she played "Yum Yum"; "Iolanthe" as a fairy, and "The Red Mill". She was a proficient cake decorator and did flower arrangements for Sheffield Baptist Church where she was a member at the time of her death. She loved to cook and bake and was a generous contributor of her time and talents to many church functions, but her greatest love was raising her children and especially loving her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 56 years, David McQuinn Murray, Halifax; daughter, Deborah (Kevin) Publicover, Halifax; son, John David (Kathy), Dartmouth; brother, Harry (Muriel) Henderson, Sydney Forks; four grandchildren, Collette, Cheryl, Laura and Christopher; and one great-grandchild, Savannah. She will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, 902-455-0531 on Friday, July 8, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Sheffield Baptist Church on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 11 a.m., Pastor Henry Grift officiating; reception to follow. He was predeceased by a sister, Murdena and brother, Victor. The memorial service for Jim will be held at Grace Church, Orleans, Ont. www.graceorleans.ca today (Thursday), July 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. He died suddenly at home on Monday, July 4, 2011, at the age of 83 of natural causes. Jim was the clerk of Session of Bethel Church in Sydney for over 25 years. He loved his family dearly, his Saviour Jesus Christ and has finally received his promotion to glory. He has had his homecoming and no doubt heard from his Saviour "Howshegoin B'y"!
