Following graduation from Sydney Academy High School in 1974, Tony lived in various parts of Western Canada. A craftsman at heart, he was well respected for his precision in hardwood floor installation, specializing in gymnasiums. Upon his return to Cape Breton in mid 1990s, he became a member of the IASTE Film and Technicians Union and was employed on a number of film productions as a scenic painter where his diligence and pride toward his work was admired by all the crew. Unique in character, Tony was well known for his ability to have fun and left all who had the privilege to know him with a story that will bring long lasting smiles for years to come. He enjoyed music, sports, and Shenacadie where he loved to relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature. It was here that he would demonstrate his competitive side not only in horse shoes, but he continues to hold the title of the "earliest" to brave the chilly Bras d'Or Lakes before the summer sun had a chance to warm the waters. In meeting many of life's challenges, Tony will always be remembered for his quiet resolve, his courage, and his strength. With his sense of humour, he would often take claim as "having the strongest arm in the world" often proving this by performing his one arm push-ups. Tony maintained a strong sense of loyalty toward friends and family and also to his beloved Montreal "Habs". Tony is survived by his niece, Marilyn Hall; nephews, Tony and Jamie; sister -in-law, Barbara Clifford; aunts, Sally Gerrior and Valerie Carson of Sydney, Elaine Clarke, Cole Harbour; uncle, David Carson, British Columbia; numerous very good friends in Sydney and from Calgary where he lived for over 20 years; and his longtime, good friend, Claude Nearing, Sydney. A special thanks to Tony's "other" family, the Aids Coalition, particularly Christine and Joanne, for their unrelenting support for Tony over the last few years. she may be related, but sorting out the McDonalds in Cow Bay is pretty difficult. we have a Kate, birthdate unknown, nothing known at all about her other than her name. Allan's children's birthdates are in the 1840's and 50's, but we only have a few of the dates. do you have Catherine's marriage record? there's a site online were you can check the record for free... https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/ [1] they'll ask you to agree to a terms and condition, it's no big deal, just clears them and you of legal hassles. just scroll down and click on agree. I'm unaware of any Ronald's in the family, and that name could be branch specific the way Archibald is, I don't know for certain. we definitely have Archibald in our tree. best, Cornelia Message: 2 Date: Tue, 23 Nov 2010 12:14:07 -0500 From: Donna Walford Subject: Re: [Cape Breton Co NS] CAN-NS-CAPEBRETON Digest, Vol 5, Issue 91 To: Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi Dwayne: I am descended from Catherine MacDONALD from Cow Bay. I believe her parents were Ronald MACDONALD and Ann MATHESON but I can't find anything on them. Catherine married JOHN FERGUSON who came to Cape Breton from Scotland in 1841. They married in Cow Bay in 1864/5. I wonder if there is any connection? Donna in Ontario (originally from Glace Bay) Dwayne, would you prefer to do look-ups for people who really don't belong in your site? I am not related to you that I'm aware, am not certain that the area my ancestors lived in were recorded, and it's probably best that I stay out of your site-trust me, inviting strangers in can be disasterous, as was for me with Geni. I lost hundreds of people, got a virus and had someone hi-jack my file when I invited strangers who were not reallly related in. not that I would ever be that cruel, but some people are. I descend from Allan McDonald, who died that year, his wife Sarah McPhail, and they had children Mary, Margaret, Archibald, Allan, John, Annie (b. 1858) and Kate and a boy who's name for some reason eludes memory, but he died before the 1871 so it doesn't really matter in this instance. they were coal miners in and around Sidney and lived in and around Cow Bay, and they were Presbytarians. ------------------------------ To contact the CAN-NS-CAPEBRETON list administrator, send an email to CAN-NS-CAPEBRETON-admin@rootsweb.com [5]. Hi Dwayne: I am descended from Catherine MacDONALD from Cow Bay.

Together they were blessed with three loving children of whom Claire was so proud, Janet, Sydney, Lisa (Jeno), Halifax, and Stephen (Dana), Victoria, B.C.
