    3. Marlene, It wouldn't be proper for me to forward a personal response to the list, but a simple answer is that Lloyd Cove (note correct spelling) is very near Sydney and at latitude 46.2500 and longitude -60.2158. I hope this answers your question. FWIW, this is exactly why subscribers are encouraged by every List Admin I am aware of (including myself) to reply ON LIST, because you never know who else may be interested in the answer. David E. In August 1914 two 4.7-inch field guns were emplaced in a temporary earthwork battery on the 120-foot ridge about 700 yards behind the point. They were removed in November 1915. In October 1916 one 4.7-inch field gun was re-emplaced on the 160-foot ridge behind the point. It was relocated to Cranberry Head (see above) in May 1917. In 1940 two 4.7-inch MK7 quick-firing guns were emplaced here, later replaced in 1944 with two 4-inch twin barrelled MK16 guns. This was the WWII examination battery until decommissioned in 1943. A four-story concrete fire-control observation post was also located here, disguised as a church. Three searchlight positions were also located here in WWII. Extensive concrete remnants still remain, including the FC tower. The site is now town property. ************************************* Map showing other places around Lloyd Cove, Cape Breton: http://travelingluck.com/North+America/Canada/Nova+Scotia/_6058004_Lloyd+Cove.html#local_map Carol MacLean out here in very sunny but windy & cool Vancovuer, BC ************************************************************************************************************** >I am searching for a place name called "Lloyd's Cove," or at least that is >the way it was shown in my source information.
