    3. Halifax Herald January 28, 2005 SAMPSON, Francis Leonard - 78, Lower South River, Antigonish. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, who passed away with his family by his side on January 25, 2005, Born in Louisdale, Richmond Co., on April 18, 1926, he was the youngest son of the late Henry and Virginia (Marchand) Sampson. He was an astute and well-respected businessman all his working life. Between 1959 and 1973, he managed the Louisdale Co-op, Landry Brothers Plumbing and Cameo Jewelers in Cape Breton before buying and operating the Goshen Restaurant and Gift Shop in Antigonish until his retirement in 1986. Leonard ran his businesses the way he lived his life, with generosity, integrity and grace. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Parish, a past member of the Louisdale and Antigonish Lions Clubs, the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation and The Lodge That Gives. He loved his gardens, fine food, crosswords and entertaining friends. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alvina (LeLievre). She was the love of his life, and their partnership in life and business served as a model to their children: Angela Bowles (Carmen), Lower South River; Denise MacDonald (Greg), Antigonish; Noel (Joann), Halifax; Gina (Peter Poole), Antigonish; Claude (Monica), Sydney. He is also survived by brother, Anthony, Louisdale; beloved grandchildren: Jared, Emma, Moira, Justine, Jenny, Malcolm, Grace, Aidan, Chase and Lenee. His smile will forever live in the hearts of his children and grandchildren. As we grieve his passing, we are profoundly grateful for the life he lived and the gifts he gave us. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Delia, Mabel, Stella, and brother, Howard. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be in St. Andrew's Church, St. Andrew's, Saturday, January 29, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Neville presiding. Spring burial in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale.
