Hi, I don't know if you are aware of it but a three Borrodale MacDonalds settled in Inverness County in Cape Breton on a farm now called "Dungarry". They were locally called the "Shugarry" MacDonalds and were the children of Rory MacDonald. They were Iain "Mor" MacDonald, his brother Alexander "Mor" and their sister Mary. Iain "Mor" married Catherine MacNeil of Little Judique and had descendants; Alexander "Mor" married a Miss MacGillivray of Inverness-shire, Scotland and had descendants. Their sister Mary married John MacLeod "mac Niall" from the Isle of Eigg. Her eldest son, Fr. William Bernard MacLeod, V.G. (Jun. 17,1798-May 20, 1881) , was the first native son of the Diocese of Antigonish to be ordained to the priesthood. His younger brother, Msgr. Neil MacLeod, V.G. (1807-Nov. 16, 1891) was born at Knoydart (then in Arisaig parish), Nova Scotia, and was the first domestic prelate in the diocese. These MacLeods would be be the same family that the noted Canadian author Alistair Macleod belongs to. The MacLeods in Dunvegan and Broad Cove and those of Glencoe, all in Inverness County, are all related. They were all "Eiggach". Allan J.
