He was a son of the late John Dan and Girlie (Gillis) Heffernan. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine; brothers, Frank, Donnie and Bernie, Antigonish; Johnnie, Guelph, Ont.; sisters, Kay Artuso, Guelph, Ont.; Patsy Wallace and Marion Neary, Antigonish.
