Funeral services for the late William Francis "Frankie" BENOIT, 79, Tracadie, Antigonish County, were held February 28 in St. Peter's Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating, assisted by Father Louis Marie, Father Frank Morley, Father Robert Donnelly and Father Peter Baccardax. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date. Mr. BENOIT died February 24, 2004, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Timmy WHITE, Devon RIPLEY Aaron McKEOUGH and Bill RIPLEY. Becky WHITE, Krista WOOD and Carmel , in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by St. Peter's Parish Choir with organist Lindy DeCOSTE, Aras Branch 59, Royal Canadian Legion and Tracadie & District Volunteer Fire Department formed an honoour guard. Pallbearers were sons-in-law, Kevin MacASKILL, George WHITE, John BURRILL, Deverne RUSHTON, Daniel WHITE and Keith DeCOSTE. Born in Pomquet, Antigonish county, he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret (DEYOUNG) BENOIT. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (Canadian Infantry Corps). He retired from the CNR in 1985 as a Roadmaster after 43 years of service. He served his parish as a lector, Eucharistic minister, usher and altar server and was past-president of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Tracadie & District Volunteer Fire Department, the Third Order of St. Augustine, Tracadie Beaver's Club, the Tracadie & District Veteran's Memorial Committee, the BENOIT 2004 Reunion Committee and was on the executive committee of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 59. He was an avid card player and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Jessie (DELOREY); four sons, Gerard (Linda), Lower Sackville; Joey (Carmel), Port Hawkesbury; Jamey (Glenda), Tracadie; Tommy (Eileen), Edmonton, Alberta; 10 daughters, Patricia (Bill) RIPLEY, Shelburne; Lorraine (Frank) McKEOUGH, Tracadie; Diane (John) BURRILL, Fall River; Teri (George) WHITE, Tracadie; Brenda (Daniel) WHITE, Tracadie; Janice (Keith) DeCOSTE, Aulds Cove; Valerie (Deverne) RUSHTON, Londonderry; Barbara (Kevin) MacASKILL, Aulds Cove; Michelle (Jonathan) FORREST, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Joanne (David) LINDSAY, Maple Ridge, British Columbia; 39 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary DELOREY, Monk's Head; brother, Clarence (Tina), Sudbury, Ont. He was predeceased by grandson, Justin; three brothers, Henry, Joe, Leonard; sister, Clara.
