Halifax Herald April 26, 2004 MacDONALD, Roderick Joseph - 80, Heatherton, Antigonish Co., died April 24, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Centerville East, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Dan R. and Margaret (MacLellan) MacDonald. In his early years, Roddie worked on the home farm and later at Shaw's in Halifax and he also mined in Ontario. Following his return to Nova Scotia, Roddie worked for 11 years in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. A true gentleman, Roddie always had a kind word for everyone. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Day) MacDonald, Heatherton; stepsons, Jimmy (Dianne) Day, St. Andrew's; Darrell (Carolyn) Day, Heatherton; Sean Day, Vancouver; stepdaughters, Della (Bill) Boyle, Truro; Margie Day, Edmonton; 10 stepgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, Rev. Christian N'Waterali and Rev. Hector MacDonald officiating.
