    1. Re: [Antigonish] Campbell of Cape George
    2. Hugh, [see last paragraph/your names] Rankin's History of Antigonish has the originator of the family John Campbell, born in Philadelphia, was the son of Colonel John Campbell, who served in the War of American Independence and of Miss MacGregor, both of Stornaway, Canada. John Campbell was married at Pictou by Rev. Dr. MacGregor, Presbyterian minister, to Janet Livingstone, daughter of Malcolm Livingstone and Kate MacPhee, a near relative of Sir Allan Cameron. Janet (Livingstone) Campbell was a hundred years old at the time of her death, and possessed wonderful eyesight in her advanced years, being able to thread a needle then just as well as when she was younger. Her husband, John Campbell, died at St. Andrew's in the year 1849. The Family of John Campbell and Janet Livingstone were: Kate married to Roderick MacNeil of Mabou, at Judique by Rev. Alexander Macdonald in 1820 (History of Inverness p. 610). From this marriage are descended Most Rev. Neil MacNeil, Archbishop of Toronto; Rev. Rory MacNeil, St. Joseph's; Rev. John MacDonald, Georgeville; the late Judge MacNeil and Alexander MacNeil of Washington, D. C. The remaining members of the family of John Campbell were: Christina married (1) to John Campbell [issue, John and Angus], and (2) to John MacRae: John married to Mary MacMillan, lived at South River, and had issue [John, Hugh and Janet], the last-named JOHN being married to KATE MacISAAC with issue; COLIN, married to Miss Partridge, and HUGH went away while young; JANET married to James MacDougall had two children, Angus and Margaret. Look like yours? That's as far as they go with names you mentioned. Also has descendants of Angus and Margaret. Hope this helps. Linda << John CAMPBELL, b. ca.1840; d. ?when/where; parents unknown; m. Catherine MacISAAC; Children; Hugh Allan, Margaret, Mary L, Colin, perhaps more. The following communities are mentioned in my records, Cape George, Lakeville, & Livingstone Cove, all in Antigonish County.Hugh Allan & Colin possibly had farms at Livingstone Cove, but Hugh left Nova Scotia, & possibly lived in the Ottawa, Ont. area for a while. Margaret, my g-mother married a John>>
