Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John Alex and Margaret (Blackburn) MacGillivray. He was well-known as a painter in the Antigonish area. He also owned and operated a Bed & Breakfast in Lanark, Antigonish, Co. He is survived by sisters, Mary Dechamps, Mississauga, Ont.; Kathleen Knocton, Heatherton; Florence (Donald) Collins, Antigonish; brothers, Johnny (Cathy), Lakevale; Cyril (Bernadette), Leo (Donalda), Antigonish; Vince (Bobbi), Allan, Arisaig; Tony (Janice), Lanark; Kenneth (Kim), Douglas (Charlene), Gerald (Annette), Vanderhoof, B.C.; Phillip (Joan), Fort St. James, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Florence MacGillivray, Addington Forks; Rita and Helen MacGillivray, Antigonish; Jean MacGillivray, Vanderhoof, B.C.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Hughie, Angus, Colin and Frank; brother-in-law, Charles Knocton. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding. Reception following in St. Ninian Place.
