Halifax Herald November 2, 2004 MacPHERSON, Michael Roderick - 60, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, at Toronto Grace Hospital, October 18, 2004. Michael, a graduate of St. Dunstan's University, Charlottetown, P.E.I., was a teacher with the Toronto Separate School Board until his retirement in 1999. A passionate lover of music, he enjoyed the arts and travel as well. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret MacPherson of Caledonia Mills; loving brother of Ann MacKinnon, Halifax; Joseph (Sharon), Fredericton, N.B.; the late Lauchie (Alta), Tatamagouche; half-sisters, Karen MacPherson-Wong, Toronto; Glenda Murphy, Doris DeVries, Dorothy Robinson, Halifax. He will be sadly missed by his adoptive family, the MacLellans of Antigonish - Joseph and Marcella, Edwin, Janis Peters, Anne, Leon, Marie Buchanan, Cyrus, Joan, the late Michael, Nancy Buckley, and Kevin; also, Loretta Baker, Margie Gillis, and Joan Gilfoy. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Toronto, October 22. A memorial mass for Michael will be celebrated in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, St. Andrew's, Antigonish Co., at 11 a.m., November 6, with Rev. Robert Neville officiating. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
