    3. Halifax Herald November 12, 2004 MacDONALD, Daniel Joseph "Dan J." - 75, Heatherton, Antigonish Co., passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. He was a son of the late Dan Alex and Jennie Agnes (Cameron) MacDonald (Marydale, Antigonish Co.). Born in Antigonish, Dan J. attended Provincial Normal College in Truro and in 1975 graduated with B.A. and B.Ed. degrees from St. F.X. University. His teaching career of 37 years was spent in Marydale, Caledonia Mills, Springfield, Fraser's Grant (principal) and Reverend H.J. MacDonald School, Heatherton. Dan J. was very much community oriented and was involved in local charities and organizations. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, as well as a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed Scottish music and was a regular follower of the Newfie Fever Band. Surviving are daughters, Geralyn (Dan) MacDonald, Port Aux Basque, NL; Jacqueline (Craig) Bobbitt, Halifax; Donalda (Dale) Trenholm, Bayfield, Antigonish Co.; Denyse MacDonald, Ottawa; Eleanor MacDonald, Ottawa; sons, Gregory (Helen) MacDonald, Ottawa; Paul MacDonald, Heatherton; their mother, Margaret and his special loving friend, Marie MacDonald and her daughter Leanne MacDonald; sisters, Catherine (Ronald) Bowman, Monastery; Mary (Joe) Purcell, Marydale; brother, Frank (Florence) MacDonald, Saint John, N.B.; grandchildren, Adam and Danny Trenholm, Megan and Ian MacDonald, Mark and Matthew Bobbitt, Mike, Emma, Teddy and baby Dan J. MacDonald. They will miss and forever cherish "Papa Ban J.", as will his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Daniel, Terry and Matthew; brothers, John L., Johnnie and Angus. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, this evening from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton with Rev. Christian Nwaterali presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Martha's Hospital Palliative Care Society or Heatherton Parish Cemetery Fund. Dan J. was a kind and compassionate man.
