My wife's paternal grandmother, Mary Jane M(a)cIsaac M(a)cKinnon, was born in Antigonish about 1878, the daughter of Angus and Margaret [M(a)cIntyre] M(a)cIsaac. She died in Sydney 16 March 1968. We have information concerning two siblings: Rev. W. B. MacIsaac, formerly of Guysborough, and John A. MacIsaac, former bank manager at Port Hawkesbury, whose mother was Angus' first wife, Christina M(a)cKinnon. If you have a chance to get down to Antigonish, you might check with the diocesan offices (behind the cathedral), the archives at St FX (basement of the library), and Special Collections in the St FX library (third floor). The obituaries from The Casket for priests and parents of priests tend to be particularly informative. The other place to visit would be the Antigonish Heritage Museum. It would be worth taking a trip down for the day. Note - I'm guessing on the following; I'd confirm every last bit of it: In some notes from another MacINTYRE family which is probably related to the one I'm working on, I have a Margaret who married Angus MacISAAC "the tailor" (who was married twice) Issue: Angus, Mary Jane - (who played the piano). This Margaret MacINTYRE's parents were John MacINTYRE and Sarah McPHEE; she was the 10th child. (Child #7, Archie MacINTYRE, was born 1843.) The notes I have go on: "About 1841, John MacIntyre, wife and children came from South Uist (Scotland)) with first six children. The sixth, Mary, was born on the boat. Landed at Mulgrave - met there by John's 1/2 brother (John also). Left trunk of dishes etc at the wharf (lost). Came to Heatherton walking and "spell about" on the white horse."
