Halifax Herald November 5, 2004 DONOVAN, Rita - Antigonish, died peacefully Wednesday, November 3, 2004, in Antigonish. She was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ellen (Purcell) Donovan. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Bernard College and Saint Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education in 1937 and 1938. She was a lifelong supporter of St. F.X. and Mount St. Bernard. She also held degrees in Library Science from the University of Ottawa and a M.Sc. in Textile Chemistry from Leeds University, England. She was employed for most of her career by the National Research Council Textile Chemistry Division in Ottawa until her retirement and return to Antigonish. She enjoyed playing bridge. Rita's life was faith filled. She was an active member of St. Ninian's Parish and a member of the CWL. She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Donovan; brother, Robert (Geraldine) Donovan, all of Antigonish; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Sister Saint Ursulina C.N.D. (Alice), Mary Cecilia "Mim", Johanna "Josie" Donovan and Helen Mackasey. Visitation will be held today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral mass will be in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 6. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
